The last day in Toowoomba was just reserved for packing my heaps of stuff together and preparing for farewell. Azi and her friends prepared a great farewell party for me at her place. I met new arrived Bretten-USQ students, we had a great dinner, passed time with a mind-opening Monopoly game, and laughed a lot. On our walk home, Hadi and I got stopped by a police car, and ordered to show our IDs. So far I had no encounter with the Australian police, but on my last day it had to happen... Words can hardly express! Hmm... unfortunately it is time to say good-bye and farewell (especially to my house mates with whom I shared so many moments), but I will for sure keep these kind and beautiful people around me here in Australia in ... read more

The rain has started yesterday, and it does not seem like stopping! The 2 night's stay in the fruit-picker's hostel were pretty shabby. No blankets were provided, although it was already getting cold outside during the night, and the chance to get a good sleep during the night in the 4-bed dorm was pretty little, as some mates came home pretty late and drunk, and one mate had to get to work at 4:30am . The worst ever merchandised tour I have seen so far. At the free Bundy tasting at the end of the tour, Katja and Martin from Switzerland ... read more

Town of the butcher's industry. In every main entrance road of this town, huge plastic bulls symbolize the town's connection to this industry. The hostel I had there was the most relaxed and easy-going one I had so far; thanks to the owner, and his unshockable female clerk. As not many backpackers stayed during this season, we had many very nice chats with beers in the evening. During my stay in Rocky I visited the botanical garden and the adjacent zoo there (many species!!!), visited the diocese's main church and booked a tour through a nearby former gold mine. There we were driven in a small bus through the little village, which had the charm of an ancient gold-rush town in the 1850s. We were also shown the negative side effects of gold washing: mercury all ... read more
