After successfully escaping Vegas I drove for about 8 hours to get to Moab. It was an amazing drive and I really enjoyed it. I took some amazing pictures as I was going along. The Hotel I stayed at was really nice. It is called the River Canyon Lodge. The room was very nice. The Bed was amazingly comfortable. I slept really well. I got up early and went to a Place called the Pancake Haus. Which makes fairly nice flapjacks. This are not pancakes no matter what these Americans say. I spent the next 4 hours in the Arches National Park. This is a spectacularly scenic park. Just look at the pics. I then did the drive to Vail. It was really nice getting back into the mountains. The Road basically run next to the ... read more

My first impression of driving into Vegas was WOW. This is really a visually amazing city. You drive down the strip an all you see is Egypt,New York and then Paris. I booked into the Imperial Plaza which is fairly well located in the Strip. I dallied a bit on my way to Las Vegas so I got there pretty late. I was fairly tired from all the walking at the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam so I basically got some food and collapsed on my bed. Tuesday I set out fairly early walking down the strip. And you would not believe this but the day that I decide to go to Vegas it rained cats and dogs. Suffice it to say Vegas is not setup for Rain. All the walkways are out in the ... read more

I got up nice and early this morning to drive out to the Grand Canyon. The drive to the Grand Canyon was a bit longer than I thought but it was a fairly nice. Getting to the Entrance of the National Park gives you no Idea of what you are about to see. Far be it from me to talk about spiritual experiences but walking through the trees and actually seeing the Grand Canyon is something that you can not really describe. Seeing it on TV or even IMAX gives you no idea. I am going to add some pictures but as said I doubt that it will make any real impact. The Walk around the Rim is really amazing. The weather was not great but it did not detract from the experience. This is truly ... read more

So after my bad nights Sleep in Rico I was not in the greatest of Moods this morning :( However the drive to Williams fixed that nicely. It was astonishing how quickly you go from amazing Green Lush of the Rockies into stark Desert of New Mexico and Arizona. When I stopped at 4 corners it was around 11:00 am. This is one of those places you have to stop at. Four US states come together here in one place. The only such instance in the US. The four states are Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. And then Just as suddenly I was back in Green Mountains. I got somewhat lost in Flagstaff, The damn GPS insisted I turn Right but they have redone the interchange and there was no way of going right. I got up this morning before the crack of dawn and packed up my room at the Residence Inn and left at 05:00. The drive out was probably one of the most scenic I have ever done. Instead of writing about it look at the pics. I could not find a place to stay so I booked a place in Rico Called the Rico Hotel Mountain Lodge. . I hope the accommodation on the rest of my trip is better. The Food was ok (Although they advertise that it is a 4 Star Kitchen) but compared to say the White Chocolate Grill in Denver it is over priced and sort of bland. The Room was tiny It could barely fit the queen size bed that was in there. But that is enough said look at the ... read more

I did a quick visit to Will's house to see the new Addition to the Jansen Family. Conrad Jansen was born a couple of days ago and is still very new to this crazy world. What a good looking young kid. Rachel was still a bit under the weather and was asleep when I arrived. Bringing a kid into world is some thing well done guys. I also took some pictures of Will's basement. All I can say is why is this not something we have in South Africa. Will took a picture of me in front of my Rental Car. Native's of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and UTAH you have been warned I am been released on your roads :)... read more

I took the Light Rail last night and had the most amazing supper. Firstly it was the first time I hit the Light rail at rush hour and it was packed. I had to stand to the first stop. The I went to the White Chocolate Grill (http://whitechocolategrill.com/) For Starters I had Tomato Gin Soup: Fire roasted tomatoes, cream, mushrooms and smoked bacon. Topped with Tanqueray Gin Then I had Blue Cheese Crusted Filet I was about to ask for the bill when my amazingly friendly waitress informed me that their kitchen had made a mistake and made an extra bread and butter pudding and inquired if I would be interested. I was not sure if I was going to be paying for it but it looked so good I just said yes. Man was that ... read more

I started my day attempting to go to apparently the best Breakfast place in Denver called Snooze but I got there and the queue was like 30 people deep and I just kept going. I took the Light rail to Colorado Station and while waiting at the bus stop I saw there really strange decorations in front of a building. Looks like those strange plants with the long stems and the bowls of spikes coming out of them. These are purple (Can you say "Start Wearing Purple for me know") After the Snooze disappointment I phoned up Will and asked for some option he directed me to Cherry Creek Mall. The walk there was very pleasant and I walked through the Cherry Creek Neighborhood an thought this would be a nice place to live. Looked very ... read more
