Louvre Speaking of Westminster Abbey, you will be even more amazed if you stop in Paris to visit the Louvre. I'm telling you when i went there simply an amazing experience to remember.
My dad said try the indian food. He said there was a big Indian population in britain. Don't know if that'll be much help, haha, since Indian food is probably even worse for you...with the spiciness, and the tastiness. Ah well, worth a try, no? Oh, and don't get any sausages! Funny story about that.
I know what you mean about the walking. The first couple of days in Hong Kong were quite a doosie for me. You will get use to it! The pictures are awesome!! Have fun!
MMMMM..I love those orange kit-kats!! Enjoy one for me.
My brother went to Dublin this past May, he said it is beautiful.
Ha, I understand about losing weight there..Erika and I were there for only 10 days or so, and when we met H, K, and S in Amsterdam one of the first things Kenji said to me was, "You look like you've lost weight." That was from the exercise of pushing the plate away and saying, "Thanks, I've had enough (all I can stomach!)".
Be careful, have fun!
Silly Sarah, we don't have a choice of food in the cafeteria on campus. They just make 1 'meat' meal (which is always involving chicken) and 1 'vegitarian' meal. They try really hard to make us 'feel at home' by cooking horrid nachos, something they seem to think was an enchilada, and baked-soggy 'southern' fried chicken. I wish they would just cook what they normally cook....
Finally got caught up with all this! I agree, Londoners have some of the strangest ways of saying things. Most of the food on the island is bland and of a less-than-pleasing texture, even if they are foreign cuisine. This may sound really cliche, and I don't know if you're a fish person, but fish and chips is a really safe bet, and if you ask around you can probably find some good spots. The prawn cocktails I had were good also. If Cadbury still makes Fuse bars, do yourself a favor and buy a gross of them. Sounds like you're having a blast, thanks for keeping us posted!
Get Over It! Oh, would you stop your pathetic comments about the food already?! How foolish of you two to expect PIZZA and NACHOS, two very Americanized foods, to the be the same over seas where they specialize in meals with lower caloric intake, lamb and seafood. Here's a hint- don't order what you would normally order back in the states. (I wouldn't even order nachos in New York City!)
On a lighter note, I can't wait to hear what you have to say about Westminster Abbey! GORGEOUS inside! I love the dialect(?) you're picking up! You can't forget these!!
Cheers and love!
Man that sucks that you had to be delayed to London and that your luggage didn't get there!! You know what I did when I flew, was I took an extra pair of clothes just in case my luggage didn't make it on time. Next time you should try it ;P Sounds like you are having fun though
Oh, I will sure look for them.
I'm quite fond of Jammie Dodgers, Crunchies, and Terry's Chocolate orange. Though, I can get all of that at world market! However, I did get some orange kit-kat, and mint kit-kat. Can't find the lemon yet. I have the Walker's cheese and onion chips, but haven't found chicken yet. I will though!
Overall the best mean I had was at a pub. It was ribs with chips and corn on the cob for only 6 pounds!
English food I have to agree with you about the food...Erika and I found it to be very bland and less than satisfying. We did have one Chinese meal that was pretty good, but the next time we had Chinese it was not even recognizable as such, and it tasted blah. We found that we were happier eating junk food...just to get some flavor! Be sure to try those Walkers chicken flavored crisps!
Of course! We're visiting Stonehenge this weekend, Sunday I believe. As far as Welsh taverns go, the best place to nip into one of those is Wales. We'll be heading to Ireland in a couple of weeks, so we'll take the train to Wales, and hopefully eat there!
Impressive What are you planning on doing on your travels? Stopping off at Stonehenge? Indulging in bangers and mash in a little quaint Welsh tavern by the fireplace watching the guy on table 9 spill food down his beard?
So sorry the Queen was out, I know she's sad she missed you. I'm jealous, but am glad you are resilient (i.e. no clothes or bags) and adventur-some.
Hugs,
Nicki
I am so glad to hear from your mom that you finally have a suitcase! The Tanaka household has been in a turmoil over that bag!!! I know you are having a great time...but then I think you could have a good time anywhere you went! It is nice to see the pictures and remember Erika's and my time in the same places. Have fun today! Love you! Ida
