We took the night bus from Huaraz and arrived in Trujillo at 5:30am. We waited in the bus station until 7am before heading to our hostel. We were fortunate when we arrived as our host quickly cleaned our room and changed the sheets so it was ready for us. We had a morning nap before heading out to the pre-Colombian city of Chan Chan. Chan Chan is the largest adobe city in the world covering an area of 20 square kilometres. It is estimated to have been built around 800AD and housed up to 60,000 inhabitants and contained vast wealth of gold, silver and ceramics. The city consists of 10 walled citadels.
