Mosquitoes Love Me! I don't know what possessed me to make reservations for Paraguay in December. Your blog reminds me how much I dislike mosquitoes. Would it be better to buy insect repellant in Paraguay or better to bring some with me from the U.S.?
I am enjoying reading your blogs. I have blogged since 2006. I love to read blogs before visiting my future destination.
Thanks for any help that you can share!

Ok, I'm using "Is it a real donkey" whenever I don't hear or understand what someone says.

Congrats on the residency and commiserations about the Ashes in advance
I DO love lists! But seriously, how can you complain when you get a free HIV and Siphyillis test?
And maybe after eating those prawns you should have a Hep A test too!
@Tom Haha - glad to know you're reading this - pass it round the office as well - definite Feathers sesh when I'm back (22nd Dec?) but doubt I will be standing by 17:30!
Buy a belt Shorts falling down? There's a novel new contraption out on the market called a 'belt'. It's worth a try.
Either that, or head back to London and go on a Macca's/Sainsbury's Meal Deal/Guinness session @ Feathers spree.
Ralp - Capellania Hi Ralp I'm so glaad you seed my home town I'm from Capellania 2 it sound has u got a fun time after all ,that School it was my 2 know i'm living in the states and still visithing relatives in Caraguatay-Capellania ,Hope 2 found u same day around.
Life in Paraguay I was so excited to read this! I lived in Paraguay for a year as an exchange student and will soon be going back, teaching there. I'm working on improving the little bits of Guarani I know, although I know it will happen much more easily once I'm back! It seems you were able to pick up on more than I did!! This is the first entry of your blog I have read, but I'm excited to see the others. :-) Thanks so much for sharing!
schoolboy error! well ralph sounds like you had a great time i think u need to stop walking forward when you have a piss as there could be barbed wire or a large ditch in front of you! good luck.
Sorry to hear about your border crossing. All that Venezuelan crap about religious donations... at least English bureaucrats call official robbery by its proper name - taxation. Love Dad XXX
water and dogs I cant believe you experienced a terrifying event involving your two worst fears (dogs and water) for the second time while in South America and I wasnt there to whitness it! I bet you were shaken up for days. Were you sick?! Take care matey. Loving the blog.
I should first dissaccossiate myself from your Mum's earlier nitpicking.
More important, you seem to be having a great time - if a little scary in parts - and that's really good. Tom's birthday today and he was ringing us all at some ungodly hour this morning. Like you, he was pretty high - and they don't have mountains in Newquay. Mmmm...
I start a new job in September, teaching economics to MBA students. It's only part-time,/temporary - but as they say - each great journey starts with a small step.
Stay safe.

PS Is Beardog a metaphor for an unshaved Pablo?
Wow Ralphy, I think we readers might have the next Bill Bryson on our hands...Am loving the blog action, beautifully eloquent and your pictures are making my view out of my dutty Leeds home even more depressing... It sounds like you are rounding up a nice bunch of jokers (I hope Pablo is on facebook) and Torsten in his one flip flop sounds like a nice compadre!
Me and the Glasto mandem are off to Budapest on Tues, and then to Serbia on Weds for Exit...VERY excited to be getting outta here, and for the festival itself...its lineup keeps getting better and better daily, newest recruits being the Chilli Peppers! Say a prayer for Chabbi though...the passport office have severely screwed him over so we are crossing our fingers tight that they made a major f***k up in the chain of events!
Anyways, KEPP 'EM COMING! Look after yourself! Love! xxx
Dying candle light is all very well.... but...

i'm worried you're losing your edge

More Para Krew - ALL DAY! Easy Ralphy,
Many apologies for not being around to see you off. The return from glasto was harsh and then I had no idea that mans were linking you for drinks the next day. even though i was pretty KO after going to work the day after glasto, i would've def linked mans.
loving the blog. pablo seems like big man on campus. get him to south london and then we'll see how he goes. I'm sure in return for your cool status with the schoolgirls, you in turn took photos of them. hold that shiznit down blud. anyhooo, safe journey ralphy you will be missed in the ends this summer, but im sure the mandem will look forward to more blogging action. gutted about thierry as well mate. sad day for english football.
