well thankyou! HI Jan O....thankyou for your very kind remarks. I must admit sometimes I wondered if anyone was reading & if it was worth the effort, but obviously it was. You will have a fabulous time in NZ- the people are trrific & the scenery just beautiful. And if your stomach is stronger than mine, you won't have an issue witht he roads & the need to be a bloody mountain goat! Have fun- maybe I will get to read your blog one day- safe & happy travels:)
me too:( wow- how easy it is to slip back into everyday life. We had a fabulous time & I am glad you enjoyed our blog- it was fun to write & a great way to keep in touch. I haven't yet tackled the job of sorting thru the photos to print....seems too hard at the moment & my little shadow will not leave my side! Hope to see you soon
so sad it's finishing sorry to see it's finishing Terri, I have so enjoyed reading your blog every day or two. Made me laugh so much and re-visit our own experiences "over the ditch". Still, you will be glad to be home, hope we can catch up soon
How much I enjoyed your holiday! This is a sad day!! No more Terri and ray's holiday antics to read about...damn! I found your blog completely by accident and have been an avid daily reader for the last week. Thankyou for your descriptive and hilarious commentary Terri. You and I are so alike I found myself thinking it was ME writing the blog....we tend to say the same sort of thing all the time ha ha. My other half and myself want to holiday in NZ and your observations have been just what we needed to read in order to go ahead and do it!....one day. Hope the flight back is/was relaxing...Regards, Jan O
to the 'Lockites' Hey Cathryn & co- great to hear from u- thanks for responding:) I'm glad ur enjoying our blog- it is a great way to keep in touch, but limited to what internet access u can get. Hopefully tomorrow night we will be back with an IAC provider & be aboe to put some photos up. raining here again & we are off to the east coast tomorrow....nearly time to come home:) Can't believe how the time has flown, but it has been fantastic. Love to all at Lock!
the dreaded ferry nup- I'd never go on that ferry again...there is a good reason they have invented planes! Although we did a great little ferry crossing at Rowena...they could teach the others a thing or two...the fact that it was in an inland bay.....way inland, had bvery little to do with it! Thanks for responding- makes us feel 'loved':) Did the trip to Cape Reinga today on a tour bus- was great. May not be able to update blog tonight, but hopefully tomorrow (Thur). Drove up the 90 mile beach- fantastic. Very windy at the cape- nearly got blown off!! Talk soon. LOL
grumblings....eewww sorry HI Cherie....didn't realise I was 'grumbling so much...sorry about that. It really is a beautiful place with hepas to see & do....a lot of the walks are for free, but the rest seems to have a $ figure on it- this may well be normal where ever u go in the world.....this is our first attempt, so all very new to us. The scenery is magic & I must admit when we first arrived, Dad & I both commented on its likeness to Canada re your trip. Hope all well & I'll try not to be too negative when being honest:)
You've confirmed it Well .. I have always said that NZ would have to be one of the last places I would want to visit and reading all this has confirmed it for me. I think I would much rather be walking across the Great Wall of China than any glacier. Marvelling at the pyramids than a geyser .. but each to his own. Despite ur grumblings I hope ur enjoying urselves.
Now you've done it! now I'm NEVER going on that ferry when I go back to the north island, will just fly in and out and that's it. got nervous enough on a couple of roads on the south island, so at least will know where to stay away from next time!! Enjoying all your updates, even if I don't get to read them for a day or two. Keep on writing and taking those gorgeous photos!
Hello from Lock You guys are amazing. Thankyou so much for setting up this blog and then writing so much each time and the fabulous photos that you put on. I am absolutely loving reading everything and seeing the photos. You sound like you are having a ball and seeing so much (even if it involves boats and bad weather, paying to shower, wash, dry etc). Honestly after i read your blog, I feel uplifted. Terri, i think you may have to look at becoming an author!!!!! You are both so brave too with those roads. Keep up the good work. Love from Cathryn and Reece xxoooxxxoooxxxooo
NZ- an Aussie view HI Steph- am glad you are enjoying our blog & it is great to get your comments. YOu will love it here, but I wish we had more time- could do a month in the south & a month in the north without even trying! But, hey- just have to do the best with what you have. Glad you like the photos- it was one of the reasoms we came here. Shame I can't upload the last few days, cause there are a couple of crackers in there. Hopefully will get them up in the next few days- Cheers, Ray & Terri
NZ well hello- where have you been hiding? Things are going very well over here- are becomming a convert of motor homes- they're great! Still hate the freakin roads- especially the one we travelled a couple of days ago- was just absolutley terrifying! Hopefully it will be a bit better- I can do hilliy if it is not sooooo steep- & head up to the northern tip. Can;t believe 3 weeks have nearly passed:( See you soon- love to all
Finally caught up!! Hey Terri,
I've been away a bit so haven't caught up on what you've been up to til this morning. Sorry to hear about Ray's knee .. .that sux hey? So what's with the 'shoe fence'?? Looks funny.
Sounds like you're having a brilliant adventure ... makes me want to get on the road again.
Love you xxx
Amazing pics Terri Hi Terri & Ray,
It has been enlightening following yr blog. I've read a few others on Travelblog.org and they are just plain boring compared to yours which is by far the most hilarious and well written!
Also, your photos are downright stunning. I remember now that you were the best photographer at Jen's 40th so it's no great surprise I guess.
Thanks for the updates and safe sailing in the morning.
Steph :)
New Zealand Hey Christine- yep, loving it here. They keep telling us that the weather they are having at the moment is SO unusual! It rains one minute, blows like a bath plug the next & if you are lucky, the sun shines soon after! Can't believe it- nor can the locals. One of the shop keepers said that they normally take off the last hals of April & all of May, as the weather in Autumn is so lovely- sun shining every day & calm....they go boating around the top of the sth island etc. He is still waiting to take his holiday as the weather has been tragic! Ah well, can't help bad luck. Are off to the nth island tomorrow, so will update the blog later today. Certainly NOT interested in going back to work:( Bye
Looks amazing Thanks for this link. Your holiday looks amazing. Not too sure about wearing a poncho with possum fur..........I guess it has been cold enough for you to wear. Glad all is going well......no doubt you will not be wanting to come back to work . Take care x
You made me cry well that wasn't very nice....you made me cry & Ray had to finish reading the message! Glad Donna liked the present- it wasn't meant for you, so u weren't suppposed to like it! Will put the last couple of days up later tonight. We did a couple of hours walking this arvo at Hanmer Springs- Ray called it a forced march (he wasn't game to say no), but in the end- as usual- he enjoyed it....just likes to complain I think:) Great to hear form you, love you all
Hi Carolyn Well the weather has been rainy, rainy & then a moment or two of sunshine! I did make rain while the sun shone tho & did a heli flight & landing onto Frans Josef Glacier- it was THE best thing ever- will get some photos & the blog up later tonight. Great to hear from you
my girl Cassie oh Cassie- that was gold!!! I certainly found it VERY funny....Uncle Ray seemed to have lost his sense of humour! He said to tell you that he didn't spend $100 just on his steak....but I must say the meal was worth it. JUst between us, I have managed to purchase a couple if items so far- a 22k gold plated brooch of a kiwi that I sent to Granny for MOthers Day, some pink & blue Paua shell studs, a lovely 22k gold plated bracelet with a dolphin inlaid with paua shell. I have my eye on a WHOLE lot more than that, but Uncle Ray is reading this so I best keep it a secret for now. Especially as I bought a pink poncho & a multi coloured scarf today, both made from possum & merino! I did get them at the best price I have seen & the lady assures me that she sells for up to 20% below retail- & of course I believe her! Actually, she was cheaper than any other I have seen, but now Uncle Ray has threatened to take my card away, so I best lay low for a day or two:) It was great to get your message- keep giving Mum & Dad heaps!!!!

bugga! just wrote a huge long response, then realised it was n the comment title box : ( Great photos from the cable car Terri - it was too foggy for ours to come out, and then it started raining, so the camera kept focusing on the raindrops on the window instead of the view far below!
