Q. Why am I traveling? A. To meet the people who I love, but don't know yet. I took a 25-mile bike ride today. It was sooo good. Man, I know I say this a lot, but I can't even handle how beautiful people are in this world. The things you do and the places you go while traveling are good, but it really is the people and the connections you make that make every up and down worthwhile. P.S. I am now an official fire spinner, and also have half of my beard singed off because of this!... read more

I'm in Salt Lake City. I met a guy named Jeremiah a few hours after I got into town at the public library who told me about the local fire spinning/acid tripping/gypsy scene at Crooked Arrow and Liberty Park. I think I can consider myself a gypsy by now. I like that identity. My dad broke his femur snowboarding today. I guess it was bound to happen eventually. Sometimes he thinks he's invincible. He'll be alright though. He's in surgery now. On a lighter note, I think I'll get a second chance at fire spinning in Santa Cruz!... read more

Leaving San Diego today, after finally finding the activist community I had been looking for. People can just be so incredible sometimes. I don't know how to handle it. It's like you meet people , and there's an instant comfort around everyone, because we've all opened our minds and hearts to the same voices that tell us this society is so fucked up. Man, there's just so much out there in the world that people need to see and hear. There's so many kids that can feel an alternative way of life but don't know where to start looking.... read more

It's the Medford Honk Festival Revisited! My last host in San DIego (Forest & Co.) lives in a really awesome anarchist house. All the talk of dumster diving, gardening, bikes, squatting abandoned areas, economics, and everything anarchist just gets me really excited for change. Tuesday night was an improvised PVC-pipe-instrument parade for Mardi Gras. I met some really incredible people. A guy named Sean conducted the band "The Bombshell." He's really great. He says great a lot. It's great. He's been to Honk in Boston, thought not at the same time I was. I met another tree-sitter yesterday. His name's Drew. He was doing a tree-sit single-handed in Santa Barbara for a week before he got kicked out. I'm a little sad I haven't been able to help out any activist projects so far. I guess ... read more

Nude beaches, vegan chinese restaurants, and a tour of San Diego on the back of a very uncomfortable motorcycle. An interesting first day with a new CS host, I'd say. Byron lives in a 2 story apartment with stone floors, a fireplace, multiple balconies, and 2 pianos while driving a Mercedes-Benz and a BMW motorcycle. And not having a job. On the other hand, he plays piano, sings, used to be vegan, and knows what Kombucha is. Interesting combination. San Diego is getting a little better. I solved the mystery of my trolley-hopping ticket, and also met a middle-aged homosexual man named Mark who had a foot fetish today. I guess everybody has the things they like.... read more
