Monday 14.12.2009 Day 61 Electric Brae We woke up more snow on the ground again we decided to still go out it was good that the griters where out doing the road making it safe to drive on even though there was lots of snow all over the ground. We drove to The Electric Brae is located on the coastal road from Girvan to Ayr, just 1m south of Dunure. Also sometimes known as Croy Brae, it is a well known scenic stretch of road where the configuration of the land gives the impression that a vehicle can freewheel uphill. How does it work? Sunday 13.12.2009 Day 60 Chestnuts We woke up and there was snow all over the ground it had snowed last night. We found a little Robin close to our car that we feed. We did some maintains work on our car. We went to the welcome talk and then went and got lots of chestnuts to roast yumm. We had been looking for chestnuts after having then in Malian but had not found any. We saw some last night while doing our shopping but did not think we had a oven to cook them in so did not get any but when we found we had a oven in our cabin we went to 4 shops looking for chestnuts in the ice and cold and no one had them. Saturday 11.12.2009 Day 59 Brunston castle We checked into our new resort today. We have a fantastic 3 bedroom place with a great kitchen. The place is called Brunston castle and has it’s own golf course and lots of things to do. We are looking forward to exploring this area. ... read more

Friday 11.12.2009 Day 58 Ayr We had the most fantastic bfast we have had all trip in the drawing room at stonefield castle. The views where over Loch Fyne were fantastic. We then went back to our room for a rest and then went for a walk around the castle grounds. We then drove to Helensburgh and had lunch on the water. We planned to then go to the Glasgow botanical gardens but the fog and the traffic into Glasgow was making it very slow so we decided to go to Ayr instead. We went for a drive along the beach it is the nicest beach I have seen in the UK so far. We found a nice hotel called the Chesnutt hotel it was a good price £60 ($108 aus) bed and bfast. Thursday 10.12.2009 Day 57 Mull of Kentye We drove to the Mull of Kentye there was fantastic views all the way then we drove back to Loch Fyne and stayed at stonefield castle which was built in 1837 and is on the banks of the loch. The castle was fantastic with lots of antiques the room was large and so was our bathroom. The bathroom was bigger than some of the rooms we have had and it only cost £60 ($108 aus) bed and bfast. We went into the closest town Talbert for dinner and found a nice Italian restaurant with an Italian owner who noticed my Ducati jacket with the Italian flag on and he was into bikes so we starts talking about bikes. ... read more

Wednesday 9.12.2009 Day 56 Kyle of Lochalsh We had a fantastic bfast then drove around the whole of the Isle of Skye it had fantastic cliffs and mountains. We then went back over the Skye bridge to Kyle and stayed at the Kyle of Lochalsh hotel. We had dinner in our room. ... read more

Tuesday 8.12.2009 Day 55 Isle of Skye We had a fantastic cooked bfast with the best bacon I have ever had. It was -7 when we got in the car. We drive to the Isle of Skye we saw lots of snow on the way there and saw the loch ness Museum we drove pass loch ness. We saw the Eilean Donan castle on the water just before the Skye Bridge. We stayed at the Dunollie hotel on the Isle of Skye it was £78 for the two of us including diner, bed and bfast. Dinner was a 3 course meal and it was a bit slow and they did not have all that we wanted so they gave us a free bottle of wine making it a great deal. Our room was one of the ... read more

Monday 7.12.2009 Day 54 Black Isle We drove up to John O’ Groats at the top of Scotland. We saw the queen mother summer castle the castle of Mey on the Black Isle and Dunrobin Castle. We went Kilcoy mains and had a look around. We saw lots of oil rigs in the ocean and we saw springs and lots of long hair highland cows. It was a fantastic sunset. Sunday 6.12.2009 Day 53 Loch Ness We drive from Loch Lomond to Loch Ness we drive pass Ben Nevis the highest mountain in the UK. We drove though the Grampians ranges the scenery was amazing with high snow capes mounts and sparking lochs. We saw a group or 3 (rain) dear jumping over a stream we saw lots of waterfalls and we saw the most amazing cows I have ever seen long hair highland cows with long horns. I just wanted to hug then and take one home. Maybe if I ask nicely I will get one for xmass! We saw the Urquhart castle on the banks of Loch Ness it is at the widest part of the loch and near the deepest part it looks fantastic on the loch. So far we have not found ... read more
