OPA! The time has finally arrived! For the next three weeks live vicariously through Jolene and I as we eat, drink, walk, hike, swim, dance, donkey ride, moped ride and ferry ride (not necessarily in that order) through the Greek islands.

HOW TO BECOME A LOCAL IN CHANIA, CRETE IN ONLY ONE WEEK (what the guidebooks don't tell you) Themesong: Sunrise, Sunset Dresscode: Bikini, sunglasses, sparkly heels and an equally sparkly dress Accessories: Prayer beads It's univerally accepted that one is to sleep between the hours of sunset and sunrise, but this is not true here in Crete (or in Greece for that matter), but sleep is only permitted between the hours of sunrise and sunset. Here we've broken down a day's itinerary: 2:30 pm - Awake. 3:00 pm - Take bus to ocean beach bar in Agia Marina. 3:30 pm - Hamburger breakfast from sleeping position on lounge chair (NOTE: This is much, much better than breakfast in bed. Here you have the same effect, but get to hear waves crashing, watch attractive Greek boys play ... read more

Opa! Here we are in Chania, Crete and where do we even begin to tell you about what we've seen and experienced. Lots has changed also. We decided to cut out Turkey as we're running out of time and we also just couldn't bring ourselves to leave Crete today, so c'est la vie. To put it simply, Crete holds all of the ingredients to a happy life. We have decided to break up the extreme highs and lows of our time so far here in Crete by the following rating scale: Highs: - 5 star Italian dinner for four straight nights at the same restaurant,Kariatis. Truffle ravioli. Semeli white wine. We are now locals...they even made us our own reservation tonight. - Recovering from the nightlife on a plush lounge chair at a beach bar where ... read more

When we arrived in Greece, we had no idea that we would be entering the Greek Olympics. Anthem: Greek cover songs of American Top 40 Sponsor: Happily NOT sponsored by McDonalds. We have not seen one McDonalds during our entire trip!! Opening Ceremony: A shot of ouzo. Events: The Discus Throw - How many coins can you throw away in a day. It is so expensive here! This event can be claimed an even tie between Jolene and Diana. Both have consumed many beverages, bought too many souvenirs for our bags, and had many fine meals. The Marathon - How many hours is it actually possible to stay awake in the day without falling asleep while sitting up and drinking a coffee. I think dizziness after 2 hours of sleep in 2 days quantifies almost being ... read more

Time: 11:52 P.M. Location: Mykonos, Greece This is what has happened in the last 24 hours. Well, the last 48 hours actually, but we wanted to draw a parallel to the show 24, as this is what life here in Greece so far has felt like. It's amazing what one can all do in a day, 24 hours, when you don't sleep. Everything is much funnier as well. Strange. Wednesday, August 18th. 11 A.M. Arrival in Athens. Jolene's aunt and uncle (Arlene and Nick) collect us at the airport. Running off of only three minutes sleep. This is okay as we're in Greece. 12 P.M. : Traditional Greek lunch on the balcony at Arlene and Nick's. Possible best meal of life. Stuffed rice vegetables. 2:00 P.M. : Siesta on the balcony. 3:00 P.M. : Three strong ... read more
