Geo: -33.714, 150.31231 Dec 2009 - 2 Jan 2010 My Mum is here on holidays, neither of us particularly like New Years, my husband is working that night, I am 7 months pregnant, so he encouraged us to go for a couple of days of pampering. Got a good enough deal for the time of year through www.hotelcub.net for the 5 star Lillianfels at fairly short notice. Decided to go by train which turns out was amazingly good value - like $11ish one way practically door to door for a 2 hour journey. Nice scenery along the way. We arrived around 13:30 so walked straight from the station to the town which took 5 mins and had lovely brunch in newly done up cafe. Then we mosied to the antiques emporium which is really good - I ... read more

Geo: -26.3833, 153.156-13Dec09Decided we needed to see southern Queensland and booked a week in the Sunshine Coast in Sept. then I got a new job so had to reschedule until December which as it turned out was fortuitous as by then I was 6 months pregnant and C was covered in road burn but that's another story. We had planned to take 10 days with a 2 day road trip either side but that wasn't possible with our jobs and it was no great loss as we had already done road trip from Sydney to Byron and Noosa is about another 4 hrs on, so didn't miss any new experiences there really as we ended up driving down as far as Nimbin (near Byron) and back for the craic. So we flew up at 9am to Sunshine coast ... read more

Geo: -32.1796, 152.51227-29Nov 09My sisters husband is away on business in Ireland & my husband is working all weekend, so my sister in invited me to join her & her 4 kids at her in-laws place in Forster. Even though its not officially summer until Wednesday it's very warm now and Forster is a beach town up the coast. Yay.Had a bad start to the weekend as I took wrong train to hers after work and added an hour onto the journey for myself - am 5.5mths pregnant so maybe its baby brain. No matter we hit off at 8pm with a car full of gear, supplies & kids! Got there around 11pm having had a pit stop in a servo after Newcastle to keep spirits up - Christmas beetles were everywhere though. All of us ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Katoomba July 17th 2009

Geo: -33.714, 150.312Decided to try Yulefest which is a cute idea as its winter here. So did a bit of research and accomodation in Katoomba is a stupid price - so yule rip off then but still want to go- but the other towns are too small and we wanted to have a few scoops so don't want to be driving at night. As it turned out I was 6 weeks pregnant by then so no scoops for me but I don't have a licence so no driving either! So where there's will there's a way, had an ingenious idea of - wait for it - stay somewhere cheaper like a motel. (C wanted to stay at Gearin's but its a hostel so I draw the line there!!)So 17/18th July 09 would come in at around $302 ... read more

Called into my sister 20km away for yum brunch with our super cute nephews (so adorable not that I am biased). On the road for real at 12:30pm.
