Brasov is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Still seemingly relatively unscathed by tourists the people were very friendly and welcoming. Musts include trying the mulled wine which is superb and the local spirit shot which isn't. ... read more

Off to London for Christmas. I like London, lots of Sydney mates there. Didn't love the 3rd degree at Heathrow. I like London but not enough to illegally overstay! Finally got a good cup of coffee at Flat White in Soho. Not the best I've ever had but the best I've had since leaving Sydney!!... read more

So first week in Moscow. Caught up with Liann who was miraculously in town from NY on a job. Had to catch a cab from Novokuznetskaya to Belorusskaya in traffic. One hour later I arrive. 1000 roubles. I need to learn how to catch the metro! Went to Hot Dogs www.boarhouse.ru to watch the Wallabies take on England. We win. Luckily some nearby Englishmen were ripe for antipodean suggestions on the quality of English sporting teams. Satisfying. Walking around Moscow after a few drinks we saw a guy on horseback in the middle of Moscow. Next to him were two guys fighting, punching each other in the head. Next a gypsy cab pulled up and the dudes calmly stopped fighting, got in the cab together and it drove away. The horse rider trotted away too. Bizarre! ... read more

Arrived at Sheremetyevo 11/11. Embarrassed as got the last boarding call in Helsinki en route. Totally not my fault as the immigration guy just left his window without explanation! Luckily a pleasant Finn let me in front of him in his queue. All the same I was last on the plane and had to do the walk of shame! The airport is beaten up and very old. I was a bit worried going through immigration - what if work has messed up my visa? Got through no worries and even waved through customs after trying to declare that I had more than 40kg of luggage. I'm happy to still have my luggage as one of my mates lost her luggage en route to Moscow! Without the taxi to pick me up from the airport I would ... read more

Quick trip across to Macau. Clubs were epic. We left at about 7am and went for breakfast. Cab hit a casino worker on a moped however there were no injuries. We hung around, sober enough to know that our driver wasn't at fault. Police came but didn't take our statement. After making sure it was okay for us to leave we had breakfast (nothing was open so ended up with some plain crap!) then caught the ferry back to Hong Kong. Time to bed, 10.30am. Wrecked.... read more

First stop Hong Kong on the way through to Moscow. I love Hong Kong - I love the energy, the food, the fact that it never sleeps.. A couple of epic nights in clubs who's name I've long forgotten! 3 hours time difference isn't much but when you fly out of Sydney with 40kgs of luggage early in the morning it's hard to keep your eyes open after 1 million Heinekens! The cool thing about Hong Kong is that the main city is a modern, bustling urban centre yet when you dart across to Repulse Bay and Stanley it is gorgeous. At the time I knew it was the last ocean beach I would see for some time so I sat about soaking up the sun and eavesdropping on the bankers wives.... read more
