Re: After San Miguel
We're going to (I think - more on that later) Lo de Marcos for January. I messed up on the reservations in that the new place does not have internet!! I've got a couple irons in the fire to see if we could "switch", but we'll see. How's everything going with you?

I ran into this blog and was fascinated with the way you handled and finally solved your car problems. I went all the way back to your first entry, read through to this one and was even more fascinated with your rode adventures and chosen lifestyle. Count me in as one of your blog followers.

YOU DESERVE THE BALLOONS
Talk about a round trip...Merida to San Miguel de Allende...the long long way...sounds gruelling but fun. You must love that car! Your new home looks amazing. Enjoy.

Love the car?
Thanks for writing, Dave - it mean a lot. I'm not sure if we "love" the car. I think it's more a matter of cost. It would cost us more if we were to buy a used car and then register it. We also found out that it normally takes 4-6 weeks to get a title for a car - something you need in Mexico and Central America!

Keep on truckin'
Your car problems are there to keep you on your toes! It's the uncertainty that drives the adventure. What an amazing adventure. David

I'm with David
My fear is falling. I've been up in hot air balloons and parasailing and been fine but get me on narrows steps where you can tumble into the abyss and I'm not at all happy. Your car troubles have been many but sounds like you made a good decisions. Hopefully, your remaining months will be trouble free. Keep those great blogs and photos coming.

Car Alternative
Would it be possible to purchase a used but reliable car in South America, and then just sell it before you leave? It doesn't seem that for a relatively short period you could lose too much money.

DOESN'T TIME FLY
Your time in Merida coming to an end...your vehicle on its last legs...decisions, decisions...oh to have the opportunity to do so...further adventures beckon. Gotta luv the Mayan ruins.

Wishing you the best of luck
I really enjoy your blogs, so hope this solution will keep you on the road for a long time. Have a safe trip up to Texas.

My Mother Always Said...
My mother always said, "Not to decide, is to decide." :)

Wise mother! I was brought up with the 'Gone With the Wind' mentality - "I'll think about that tomorrow; after all, tomorrow is another day!"

Take heart! I continue to enjoy the "armchair traveling" through your blogs, and the photos you've taken are amazing. Hugs, and Just Do It!! Jane
