What a treasure!
I really really love that feeling of finding the 'B' side... while reading the start of your blog I smiled to myself as I recalled a similar feeling about the Trevi Fountain in Rome...the first time we saw it we were awe struck by every aspect of it, and then after a few days we'd walk past it with barely a glace, as we pushed our way through to a favourite gelato shop near it :)

Love the Dublin stories. Jealous that a pint costs so much in Paris. There are so many things to do here it is amazing and well worth multiple visits. Every time we go out we discover something new.

I remember the speed travelling days well. We visited the Great Wall of China, Potala Palace in Tibet, Mt. Everest, Khatmandu and saw the Taj Majal in just about a week of travel. Now it takes us 3 days just to figure out the Metro in a city. Both ways are fun. I still miss my 8-track tapes. Ha ha.

As always, great photos. I totally agree with you on the B side of places; most of the time people (and I include myself here) don't have enough time t see the B side: we were in Paris for just 3 days so, unfortunately, we barely had time to see the "must see". Also, I'm old enough to remember listening to the radio in bed and jumping out when "my song" was being played in order to press the "record" button on my tape recorder... those were the days!

I so applaud what you are doing . Your pictures are wonderful. I feel like I'm right there with you, gazing at the beautiful views and peeking into windows ! Do you plan to stay a month ? I would REALLY love to go to Paris. Maybe some day. See, no matter how old you get you still think i the "some day mind set !! Bonne chance, or is it bon ?!!

Hi Pat, Thanks for your kind words. We are really enjoying Paris and will stay here for a month. It is really beautiful, especially at this time of year, when the leaves are budding and the trees are blossoming. Paris literally changed seasons overnight; one day it's freezing and you had to wear 2 overcoats, the next 70 degrees!

Funny but true
We have been travelling for almost 3 years straight. I sometimes think of staying in one place for 6 months or so and just travelling by googlemaps. We have even previewed some museums to see if we want to spend money on them or not. It's great...Thanks for reading.

Living the life of the nomadic gypsy world travelers. Who cares about 140 square feet when you have all of Paris. Perfect Paris. Mexico, Italy and now Paris...that is a life well lived. I was reading your last blog about trying to heat up your Irish cottage and I thought maybe we were lucky to be here. It only takes about 2 minutes to heat our house once we turn on the heat. We're enjoying your travels and can't wait for more great pictures of the Emerald Isle. Jealous of the castles though....

In July of 2011, we made the decision to leave our comfortable jobs in Northern California to see the world. We weren’t sure where we were going to go or how long we would be gone, but we wanted an adventure and we knew we could find it if we looked carefully enough.
