Duck's neck?????? Well, that duck neck thing would've been enough to finish me off I think! That's really sad to hear about he olympic stadium - really disappointing but then, not suprising also.
Keep warm you two!
Hi my angels! sounds like you're having a brill time! Give it a go; the hard sleepers aren't that bad and really interesting people wise! some bloke took a photo of me on one, cracks me up! .... now. at the time i was in a right pissy!
manners yeah, we've just felt everything is done differently in China. We are in the country in their Spring festival so that could account for the over crowding around the cities. The chinese ppl we have spoke with have been really friendly and we have met some great people.
Im gettin into the spitting!

Rude is a strong word! Quite right NYC, it is a strong word, however, although we have met many lovely, genuine, no ulterior motive people, we have also been refused cab, even with chinese written instructions and a few chinese phrases to use, Police man refused to acknowledge us, bus driver assured us we were off to the station and then dropped us in a industrial park 25mins outside town! another cab driver dropped us off under a expressway interchange in a deserted carpark- late at nite! and then an attempted pick pocketed yesterday! p.s in Xi'an at the moment- and as its a bit of a tourism 'hub' im pretty sure im not the only English they have seen- a Hello and a smile is endearing- a stare, point and laugh is just unfriendly!
thanks for the comments tho, in the blog we have mentioned particular locals who have gone out there way to welcome us- and we do apprieciate that!
na xx
Rude is a strong word seriously, RUDE is a strong word. You can't generalize all Chinese ppl with one word...It's just not right. I met lots of locals while traveling in China. They are just genuinely nice ppl, willing to help foreigners. They stared a lot simply because most of them have never seen a foreigner. I got used to the stare thing very quickly.
Anyway, with very low violent crime rate towards tourists, unique culture and breathtaking views, China has many positive sides that most westerners can enjoy.
Spitting???? Well, I have to say I'm surprised to hear of such bad manners. The Chinese people that live in Britain are amoungst the nicest, politest people I've ever met - what a culture shock. What is it they say....when in Rome...get pushing guys!!!!
