Wow! It was exciting to read about your actual work; it sounds not only exciting for you to be doing "something" but you make it sound interesting, also. Love you!
Wow super interesting! i love when the stuff we studied in college actually pays off at some point (nutrition for you). glad you're enjoying yourself out there girlie! xoxo
Fun Hi Monica
Glad to hear you are having fun, along with your work, and making new friends. It's nice to see some of Peru thru your eyes and experiences and pictures. Thanks for sharing with us. Love you much, Grandma
What a marvelous experience Hi Monica
Another once-in-a-lifetime (or maybe not) experience you are having. It must have been great to see the city with someone who really knows it.
Still hot and dry here. I was in St L Thur for an appt, at St John's med bldg, couldn't find my car when I was finished; I knew exactly where I had parked--but didn't realize there are 2 garages there so, of course, I was wandering around in the wrong one! I finally called your Mom to rescue me. The good news- I got to have lunch with her and Tim and Jennifer; the bad news--I'm now the butt of a lot of new family jokes!
I'll be looking for the next blog. Love you lots, Grandma
Exploring Lima Monica, I love your pictures! So glad you were able to meet up with Eddie and explore Lima. The churches look beautiful in the pics but I'm sure they're even more gorgeous in person. My mouth is watering after your descriptions of the new food you tried. Sounds like a great day! Love you!

Friend of Shekhinah I have been involved with the clinic since it opened, through a White Father,( Fr. Herbert Herrity) who gave the first donation to help establish the clinic. Before his heart surgery in the year 2000 Fr Herbert asked me to continue to support Shekhinah "if anything happened to him" He did not survive the surgery!. what we do , we do through the love of Fr Herbert and through his love for David Abdulai, they were like father and son.
May God bless all who work in Shekhinah. You are in our prayers.
Best wishes From Pat
1 With the help of his family and friends we have continued
to support Dr. David as best we can with financial help, and of course through prayer.
India by Train I also traveled to India taking this route first time in Nov-Dec 2010. The journey starts from Karachi Cant. at 11:50 p.m. and reaches Khokrapar Border at 7:00 a.m. The Platform in our side of the Border is too low and the older people face problems in disembarking the train. The staff at the border were good and have friendly attitude. Customs checking takes time as each and everything is being checked. 2:00 p.m. the train took us to Indian side of the border. The same procedure was repeated there and the train left Munabau at 7:00 p.m.. It reached Bhagat ki Kothi stations 5Kms ahead of Jodhpur Railway station at 11:15 p.m. Superfast... Again there was a formality of luggage checking by the local police which irritated most of us. Anyhow we came out of the station and went to Jodhpur Railway Station by hiring three wheeler Rickshaw by paying 200 Rs. Next morning at 6:00 we went to Jaipur from there. from Karachi cant to Jodhpur it took 24 hours time. and return from Jodhpur to Karachi it took more than 30 hours whereas the real travel time is only 10-12 hours. The security measure and procedures takes this lengthy time.
Congratulations Hi Monica; Congratulations to Esperanza and all the volunteers who have helped make lives better for so many families. I know it is something you enjoy doing and I admire you foryour commitment to helping others. Much love, Grandma
Good Friday Hi Monica,
Sounds like an awesome Way of the Cross. Fr. Bryon's homily today was like he was reading a eulogy at Jesus's funeral, spoken from viewpoint of someone from his hometown. It was quite moving. I'm glad you got to spend more time with Eduardo's family-I'm sure all the kids loved paying with you, too. Hopefully we can skype on Easter.
Love,
Mom
Welcome Thank u for visiting my beautiful homeland...well to me it's wonderful. i feel ashamed at the atrocities that have hindered the country's image to the outside world. nevertheless it is heartening to know that people other than pakistanis have found the country interesting enough to visit despite the problems. The pakistani people are generally hospitable and are glad to accomodate visitors, and we hope many others would make thier way to pakistan. As a pround pakistani, i speak on behalf of my nation when saying 'welcome!, and may your stay be a happy and meaningful one'. God Bless.
Feliz Navidad Loved the picture of you and Ashley in front of the Cathdral. Looks like a beautiful church! We miss you here, but glad you are having a Merry Christmas in Guatemala! It was fun skyping with you on Christmas Day. Love, Mom
MERRY CHRISTMAS Merry Christmas and God Bless, Monica. We will miss seeing you but are enjoying your travels so much. You are having some unforgetable adventures. Love seeing the smile on you face. Bob and Missy Backer
Mary looks great with her baby. I worked with Mary at Bethesda. I was wondering how she was doing in Pakistan. Obviously she is doing well. Give her my best wishes. Adrian RN.
Glad you are back on the blog. Our niece and her boyfriend whose name is Aldo did Cinque Terre the year before last. She sent emails back and had the same sentiments you do. Keep on trucking (do they still say that?).
