Love the pictures and.. I am so glad you are doing captions--wobbling heads, skinny thugs, and the chaotic streets with thin horses, motorized rickshaws, and fancy cars all make it very interesting, for sure! The picture contrasts are incredible. Do the local folks know/care about the Haiti earthquake? I will miss this blog thing but I certainly hope you have a safe and uneventful trip home!
Whew! I watched that video of the RikShaw ride! OMG!!! That thing is LITTLE!!! LOL! All I can do is laugh! I would have been scared! Those folks drive crazy and it seems without regard! What were the ox all about?!
What a beautiful horse! Gosh, in all that traffic! You're right! He'd have to have alot of nerve! Traffic looks to be a nightmare! So glad that we don't have it here, although sometimes 470/435 can look that way in the AM!
The pictures from the beach are very interesting. I, as well, don't understand why people decide to "trash" natures beauty. It is a very unfortunate thing. The seashells (nature's mandelbrot) are very cool. I couldn't tell what the puprle and white thing was but I am assuming it is a seashell of some sort. Beach house is neat. Machine gun bunker is a nice touch. Scary, but at least you should feel a little safer. The indian crow looks similar to one of the birds that we see here in the summer...
Very impressive pictures of the hotel in the daylight. Everything looks really beautiful there. I'm jealous :) Those roof top gardens are sure a very neat idea.
Geez, Mike, who'd thought you took your soap box to India! Seems like I always have mine with me, too. I have never thought there was anything inherently better about being an American but rather that it is a privilege to have been born in America--where political, social or economic class, religion or race did not prevent anyone from having an education and attaining a decent lifestyle, and all of the other American stuff but also that America guarantees basic freedoms--speech, religion, bearing arms, voting, legal protection, etc. Unfortunately, at least half of Americans are no longer contributing anything or taking advantage of the opportunities but also whining loudly about not being given enough and claiming to be victims of some or other social injustice! Sad stuff, that is. My all time favorite bumper sticker reads, "Don't share my wealth, share my work ethic"and I think you just said India gets it. I am enjoying your photos and also always like your soap box issues, too!
My computer is very reluctant, keeps freezing up but I think I am wearing it down and winning most of the time. I agree the traffic looks horrible, seems like some of the vehicles are touching. I can't even imagine the chaos with motion and noise added in.
That is awesome that you got to see new york. That is a city I would like to visit. I know you didn't have much time there but it still seems cool. Good luck in India! I can't wait to get an update from there.
Oh man, I forgot that seminar was this weekend. I'm not doing anything, I should have come up! You probably have a lot going on without entertaining your little sister, though!
