Independence Birthday I promise to grace the Americans with my presence one of these days while they celebrate my birthday, probably in New York I think. Would be a lot of fun! I'm sorry - anyone who did the main song from Back To The Future (Huey Lewis) is good in my book :) Looking forward to seeing you in a fortnight, enjoy New York in the meantime! Oh and less food, more photos!!!
Tubby Americans walking along all the nice walking routes would spoil them, don't you think? Don't encourage them :) I think now is the time to admit that the only reason you went travelling is to find new and exotic places to buy bat t-shirts from, having exhausted everywhere in this country...
Hi Lizzie, sorry for long time with no message, been on hols!....to Yorkshire, woo hoo. Going to Canada in August though, Toronto (for Wedding) and then Montreal. Sounds like you were suitably impressed with Niagra so will have to visit there, hoping Montreal bit better than your account of Toronto!
How long have you got left on your travels now? Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Disappointment Hi Lizzie, Waterfall sounds amazing despite the vomit couloured lights. if people get in your way I've found a quick jab to the ribs with a sharp elbow often does the trick. As to the feeling disappointed, I'm afraid you'll have to get used to it when you come home as I think that getting up to come to work and paying bills are going to be a bit anti climatic after all you've seen and done. You should definitely do a book when you get back and put in all your photos so you don't forget anything. Will definitely miss your blog as it's made me smile a lot of the time. Enjoy the rest of your time out there. Love Nicola
You've clearly been away too long, yes we are as bad as they claim. But then they're as bad as we claim :D Good to hear from you, now people can stop asking me if I know where you are/what you're doing! Well done for getting to America in time for Independence Day, you don't want to miss all the parades/alien spaceships!
Canada Hi Lizzie,
Lovely to hear from you again. Don't think there's many more places for you to visit are there? Always wanted to go to canada as well, just never got the chance. If you do see some Yogi's send us some piccies.
Love
Nicola
Ah, cute animals - always a staple of the Lizzie Blog :) I had a look at some pictures of Lake Tahoe the other day (or some bits of it anyway), it looks positively heavenly. Envious!
Europe is really easy without a car. Cheap flights, great trains and buses. It's also nice and compact so you don't have to travel 12 hours between towns. Still not volunteering to drive round Europe, but will happily do half the driving if you want to come to North America. Lots to see and do but it's very spread out. And the American's don't walk so there's a severe shortage of pavements anywhwere round here. Was much safer to canoe round the block than walk in the road. (Even with 2 dogs hopping round the canoe)
Yes, learn to drive. Now I've had my eyes opened on how easy it is to drive to Europe, it'd be nice to go a bit more often, but you needn't think I'm doing all the driving :) Shame you got stuck in an airport, but I guess it was inevitable given all the travelling you've been doing! Say hi to Alvin for me...
Hope you didn't get hit by the flying poo! Good to hear you've had a great time in S America. Pleased to see you managed some authentic regional meals, a bit of diversity from pizza and pringles. The waterfalls sound pretty amazing, wonder how they compare to Niagra - are you going there too when you're in Canada? I look forward to seeing the photos when you return.
Enjoy the USA and Canada K x
Llanrhaedre waterfalls with a cup of tea and a scone is not going to do it for you any more is it Lizzie? Need more information on how to make the dessert pizza. I want to go to Brazil now. Keep on having a wonderful time.
Sounds like fun and good friends. Missed reading your blog entries while I've been in Switzerland. Not about to pay three quid for 15 minutes on supposedly 'good value' public internet when there's mountains to be climbed :) I will update about my (comparably short) hols when I get a chance. I'm surprised you didn't spend more time with the monkeys though, they probably have about the same level of mischief as yourself ;)
Oh wow - I've always wanted to go to Brazil, and you're writing hasn't disappointed me! A big lover of animals like yourself, especially the tropical birdie types! You haven't mentioned anything about the music though - I know its not Meat Loaf, but surely Brazil has some of the most intuitive and complex rhythmic and melodic arrangements goin on -- you'll have to let me know if you discovered when you get back. Last continent coming up for you soon, so keep enjoying! Craig
been suffering withdrawal symptoms missed your blogs and have been thinking about u as there have been floods and earthquakes in S America of late.Glad u are in canada.Hope u get to see my friends in CalgaryCheers
how I agree with you about the Spaniards I r ead a book written by a spanish civil servant. he was attached to the embassy in London but he was obviously a keen student of the history of the Spanish period and their control of the Incas. I think the book was called Heart of Jadeand I have never forgotten it. I almost wish I could forget it. Man's inhumanity is incredible
Wow Hi Lizzie, somehow I managed to miss this one! I have to say, this is you writing all this right? Because after about a minute of reading your post, it feels more like a novel - marvellous stuff, really enjoying it. Hope that you maanged to get better and enjoy the superb Bolivian cuisine. Keep writing and stay safe - Walsall is starting to feel very small! Craigxx
Skirt I must be hallucinating - YOU in a skirt - I can't belive it. Right this may well be the start of something new for you he he!!!! Can't WAIT to get out there - handed in my notice and two members of the team kissed me. This could be quite worrying ie they are glad I am leaving or a gesture of affection....hmmm......grin!! Oh I meant to mention (I am sure you have already worked this out, but I am coming back on a different flight after all - same date and time as yours but 200 quid cheaper!!!) I hope you are feeling better btw nothing worse than not feeling like eating especially when everyone eats in front of you constantly, but sounds like you're over the worst of it if you are starting to fancy chocolate. Missing regular updates from you. Take Care Samantha xx
Sorry you have been so poorly. Sounds horrible. Can't wait to see the photos of you dressed up with the torch round your head dancing. Pleased you have met such a great bunch of people. Thank you for making me giggle so much. Love it.
So let me get this right - in order to get you in skirt, we need to find someone to talk to you in a foreign language (with or without snap lessons), possibly feed you some rice and potatoes, and then you will be violently sick as a consequence? Sounds about right :) Sorry to hear you've been ill, but I guess if you're away for 6 months you've got a chance of coming down with something at some point! Just be glad you've got your one illness out the way. I guess all that's left to say is, thank god someone's making you listen to some decent music - going halfway across the world and listening to Hanson and the Backstreet Boys would be a travesty in itself ;) ;)
I am amazed at the enormity of what you have achieved and delighted that you are now in suchpleasant company. the group with whom you are travelling seem so cheerful and such fun it must be so enjoyable to be able to laugh with them. And you are being well fed and cared for!! Oh! frabjous day. Hooray. Hooray1
We are all very envious. Now you have done it once will you be able to carry Grandma up there next time you go. Brilliant account of it all and can't wait to see the photos. Well done you and thank you for my birthday card.
