Hi sorry about the delay! We can only say about the Phillipines that during our visit we never felt it to be unsafe. Of course we took obvious precautions like not walking about at night in unsafe areas and we avoided the south of the country which is not reccomended to vistors but generally we found that the places we visited felt safe. The security on public transport was actually really good and bags are almost always checked at ferry terminals and bus stations, presumably looking for explosive devices. We went through the domestic air port at Manilla and they also had many security checks.
Also everyone we met was really friendly, we are sure you will have a great time, enjoy!
safety I wonder if you can help me. I have travelled a lot, but never to any country as dangerous as philippines is suppoed to be. I really want visit there but admit that i'm scared becuase i heard that theres lots of crimes against westerners. I only plan to go to the north of the country to bagiou, but am worried about getting through manila even though i can hire private driver that my wife knows as she is filpina. At this moment in time they say there is high risk of bombings, not just down the south. I'm quite a nervous person in general. please can someon be honest with me and give me a little bit of help
Keep it on! Tom! get that beard back on board captain! have just managed to read through all your blogs! and loving that fact i can live my travel adventures through you two! i've left the ministry of ed (actually they left me) but alls good as i'm now talking to fish at the seasfood industry council.. what could be more fun!?!?! keep it up you two!
wrestling with the lambs Here in Masterton, wrestling with the lambs. Yes that's right. What was four sheep is now eight. Bonnie is still urinating without license. As is Roger. Julie would like to offer you cut price dancing lessons, visit www.danceswithlambsdressedashelen.com (website currently under construction).
In case you're concerned, a few wines are combined with the altitude we are currently experiencing and have resulted in this blog repsonse.
Your next mission, should you choose to accept it (and you fucken better) is to include in your next blog, a photo of you wrestling a creature closely resembling the mighty G (AKA Gomez).
PS we'd prefer a llama or a badger.
Oh and we were at the quiz night with James, Erica, Reece, Andrew (?) and blonde chick with lots of blue eyeshadow. Performed appallingly, far too many questions on Wales and we did not have our expert.
stay still for a bit! Hey Lizzle (and Tom), thanks for another chorus of Waltzing Matilda, loved the one on my card too... and the Let the Wild Rumpus Start bought back many memories for me - would send you some post but you keep on moving around! xxxx
Sun's shining Hey there, it's me Gomez-remember me or don't I matter anymore now you've gone? The sun's been shining here in Welly-Fish since you left and I'm still on a diet. That's about it really. Sounds like you're having a fab time in Australia, enjoy the sunshine.
hello hey sorry ive never wrien it because im a very bad friend! all sounds amazing but clearly not as much fun as im having working in leeds! Although there is a distict lack of dolphins around, think i might go bond with the fridges in the canal! love you loads and loads xx

Melbourne What an awesome trip you've had so far - and you're only just over half way, lucky effers! Not sure what you've got planned for Melbourne but highlights for us were the Botanic Gardens, the Healsville Sanctuary, a road trip down the Great Ocean Rd - 12 Apostles (great if you love rock formations!) and checking out the nice eateries and bars in Brunswick St and Fitztroy - the Veg Cafe is amazing and cheap, and you'll eat some of the best food / fresh produce in the world in Oz cos it's all grown local and plucked fresh each day. Enjoy! I'd move to Melbourne in a hearbeat! xxxx
"Le Havre"...good boat! Hey you crAzy kids sounds like you are having SO MUCH FUN! Feel bad that I haven't written anything to yet, but then I figured you've gotta start somewhere! Dolphins looked AmAzIng! Sounds like the coolest thing EVER! We fed some wild Dolphins over in Dingo Bay when I was in Oz, but not even close to swimming and "singing" like that!
I was also excited about your boat "Le Havre" as we got a Ferry to Le Havre on the 29th and went to brittany for a week. Went over with Adinah, Rose, Ruth, Ross, Tim, Tall Nick and Lisa and stayed in Tim's parents holiday house...weather wasn't all that great but we had a wIckEd time, ate good cheese, fresh local fish and drank the local speciality...CIDRE!!! A deliciously delightful suprise as I was expecting loads of wine..mmm Cidre!
Spoke a lot of rubbish French which amused the locals greatly! Nice beaches and bike rides but thanks to Ruth, and some force feeding me Oysters (well I agreed to it but almost threw up), I vow never NEVER EVER to eat seafood ever again!
Thought you should know!
Keep having loads of fun and writing those blogs, they brighten up my mornings before I start work!
bIg lOvE Bobbin xx
dolphins in the water... Liz, do you remember when Me, you and Rachel composed a jazzy little tune called 'dolphins' on the old HipHopEjay?! I don't think you would ever be able to find a more appropriate time to listen to that little ditty!
Big Hug, stop having so much fun! x
I have managed to hack my way in!!!...and now i cant think of anything suitabley exciting to say! Everything you have done looks amazing!only had time to skim but tis all good... im properly jealous about the skiing...would love to do that, are you going to or have you tried snowboarding?
Well absolutely no news from Ed apart from Tam and Sophie running off to the big smoke in a couple of weeks and leaving me stranded all alone! boohooo....The summer here is of course non existent and the fun ended with our horrifying departure from the World Cup to none other than the flying portuguese...sob sob
My exciting news is that im going to Cuba in October, only for a couple of weeks but i cant wait...
Less of a comment more of an essay...sorry guys...
Missing you both loads but glad your having such a wicked time...ciao xoxo
Wonderful Wanaka! Hey guys, have been following your trip - pea green with a healthy dose of envy and nostalgia, we did a similar trip to you but during the NZ summer - absolutely loved Wanaka and the Cinema Paradiso there, also check out doing the heli hike to Franz Josef if you can afford it, and it may be a bit cold, but the dolphin swimming in Kaikoura is a once in lifetime experience - just don't hyperventilate like I did! You can also fly from Kaikoura to Wello for approx £30 with a company called Sounds Air, well cheap and amazing scenic flight, you can see dolphins and whales as you fly home! Oh, and try a Ferg Burger when you get to Q.Town, they're shooge and yummy. Later bro, Ebs xxx
So after 6 months of planning and working hard Tom and Liz are off to New Zealand to travel and work for 6/7 months, basically because it looks like a very nice place to be. But of course you couldn't travel to the other side of the world without having a little look around.. so we are going to be stopping of in San Fransicso, French Polynesia, The Cook Islands and Fiji on the way
there :o)and Oz, Singapore, Vietnam (Singapore again) The Phillipines (Um.. Singapore again) and India. so wish us luck and to all of our friends and family back home will miss you lots so keep in touch! BIG LOVE ... full info
