Today Cat and I did Universal Studios as our optional. It was fantastic. As soon as we got there Cat and I broke away from the group and headed towards Jurassic Park ride. The coach driver told us there would be a que if we did this - but there was not!. Cat and I jumped on in second row. Seats were very wet. The ride was awesome. Cat jumped a little with stuff jumping out but I had watched the ride on you tube so a bit of the fun was lost. Its so clever, the detail in the ride is great. I didn't find the drop too bad, but as per all photos on rides I did look terrified. As soon as we got off we went on again a second time. Somehow I ... read more

Contiki LA Scene started today. We met our tour guide in the morning to get all our documents completed and then boarded the coach for an LA tour. First was a Hollywood tour. Once we were in Hollywood we went on a walking tour. We each had headsets and walked around, the guide commentary playing on our headsets. The guide was quite funny. We pretty much just walked up and down the streets and he pointed out some of the stars, Kodak Theater, Chinese Theater, Egyptian Theater etc and took us to somewhere we could seethe Hollywood sign from a distance. Once the tour ended we had about another hour to explore Hollywood ourselves. It was not as good or big as i expected. After Hollywood it was on to Santa Monica which i loved. Nice ... read more

Today we did a day trip to Sea World CAt and I decided we wanted to do both San Diego Zoo and Seaworld so we left the Zoo for our next Contiki trip optional and organised to do Sea World ourselves. We booked our Seaworld Day trip prior to leaving Australia through the Qantas brochure when we booked our pre tour accommodation also. We got picked up from our hotel at 8:15 and taken to the Greyhound Bus Depo. We then got tickets and were given a bus number and jumped on that bus. The driver was very funny. I was quite impressed. Turns out all greyhound drivers have a good sense of humour and make you laugh on your way there. We arrived at Seaworld before 11:00 and had a bit of a walk around. ... read more

Today we left Vancouver. We woke James, said bye and left him with half a bottle of Vodka and let him check out of our room for us. Our flight to USA was 10.30am so we left Vancouver 7:45am. The flight was OK - not too long. It was not too hot when we landed. Not like the day we first landed. We got a shuttle to the hotel we would be staying at with Contiki and checked in. The room was ok. Ground floor. We didn't do anything much today. Not too much around. We asked reception if Taco Bell was anywhere and they told us to get a bus or taxi or it was a 30 - 45 minute walk. Cat and I decided to walk. That 30 - 45 minute walk was only ... read more

9 July 2008 Today Ben Cat and I went to Vancouver aquarium. It was alright. Pretty busy and my camera wouldn't really take very good pics. We saw the baby Beluga Whale which was really cute. After the aquarium we headed to Granville Island and did some shopping, went to the beer factory and just hung out. That night Cat and I met up with James, Jim, Jarrod, Mike, Hannah and Kylie and went to an Aussie Pub for dinner and then watched a bit of beer Olympics and then went to bed. 10 July 2008 Not much today. Shopping, internet and met James, Jarrod and Jim for dinner and then we went and saw a movie. We saw the Stranger. James crashed in Cat and my room as a break from the hostel and dorm. ... read more

So today Contiki officially ended when we woke up. Devo. We went down to reception and were able to stay in our room the next 2 nights. Didnt have to change rooms from when Contiki accommodation ended and ours began so that was good. Some of us met at some pancake place on Granville for breaky and last goodbyes to some who flew out like Tessa and Chris. Sad to all be breaking up. Others left our Sandman accommodation for Samesun or Hi Hostel accommodation. Ben from home met up with us. He was in Vancouver the same time as us by chance on his own little Canada and London Trip. We wandered around Vancover and the shops for the remainder of the day. That night James, Cat, me, Brent, Aaron and some others who were ... read more

Another long drive day. Everyone thought Leia and I will be struggling hung over and sick. Quite the opposite really Leia and I were thriving, full of energy, no hangovers, feeling great. Thanks Denny's. A few other travellers on the other hand were very sick. They had Food poisioning from the Chinese and were throwing up agood half of the day on the bus. Go team Leia and Shauna. - See Alcohol kills all germs. The people who had a quiet night were all very sick the next day. We stopped in the small little town of hope. One of our tour mates had a small seisure/shock or something- im not sure I wans't there so an ambulance was called to check her out. We stayed in Hope several hours playing in the park and foot ... read more

Today was a long drive day. From Ablerta back into British Columbia. The drive takes you through 3 of Canada's national parks, Yoho, Glacier and Mt. Revelstoke National Parks. Finally when someone yelled BEAR i Saw it. We stopped the bus and watched him for a few minutes. Surprisingly bears actually like the open flat spaces as opposed to trees etc. They generally walk along the train track which is what this one was doing so in a clear open view. Though my great camera of course failed and the big black bear was nothing but a black blur in my picture. Dinner was included tonight - Chinese Buffet all you can eat. I was loving it. However others felt pooly after. More about that tomorrow! The night in Vernon is generally known as a quiet ... read more

OMG!!! What a day. It is the reason I chose this tour and worth every minute of it. We were planning to get the train in but our driver ended up offering to give us a lift. We got dropped into town about 8:30 or 9:00 and stampede atmosphere was everywhere. As we walked through the streets of Calgary we saw Native Americans on horse back, cow and horse mascots walking around, and of course every man and his dog was dressed in at the very least a cowboy hat and jeans. Calgary stampede = FREE PANCAKE BREAKFAST! Score! We all got a bit of food and ten music started and so did square dancing. Yes- dancing in the street. They took turns grabbing us from the street and dancing around. OMG it was funny as ... read more

We started today with our optional gondola up Sulpher Mountain. It had some nice boardwalks at the top and an amazing view of banff. I think the Gondola took about 40 minutes to get up. I'm scared of heights but have so far been fine on the gondolas. This one scared me the most though. I was in with Shana Daniel and Leia who though shaking it was hilarious. LOL i had a moment of hate for them. But hey they were entertained by my desperate plea's no no no !!! When we were going back down I refused to get in with Daniel again, sending him down by himself. His photo taken by the gondalo people was proably him looking at us in shock for not getting in with him. We arrived in Calgary fairly ... read more
