Well, this is the second time I've tried to write this entry! I poured my heart into the first one and now we've popped open our second bottle of wine so...ya know. OK. So. We started out waking up at 6 30 READY for the Half Dome climb. We really did try!!!! To our dismay it was pouring down rain and the forecast was not looking good. It was sad, our beloved Half Dome is going to have to wait until our next California adventure. Our feet are swollen and blistered from the night before! Ouuuch! We went back to sleep after realizing this was not going to happen, and woke up later after check out time....oops! Our drive out of Yosemite was sightly, which was no surprise seeing as though all of Cali is the ... read more

Today we set off for a strenuous hike up to Glacier Point!!!! It was amazing!!!! Glacier Point is around 4.6ish miles up with intense climbing, and panoramic views of Yosemite. It took us about 3 1/2 hours to get all the way up. Along the way we made some hiker friends named Eric and John who turned out to be an uncle and nephew. A couple of friendly fire fighters from Santa Cruz! We met up a couple of times along the steep, windy trail before a final formal introduction at the very top. The four of us found a secluded area of rock and relaxed for a while discussing the views, fun trails in Yosemite, and past hiking adventures. We were invited to have some cider at their camp but by the time we got ... read more

After our previous night of not sleeping, we accumulated a good 15 hours each. So, unlike the being loopy from lack of, we were loopy from too much sleep! It was onto the Sequoia National Park. Wow, the redwoods are huge!! There were trees you can walk through, trees you can sit in, lay in, or as Jordan thought about doing, eat lunch in. Deer and chip monks roamed the park, and big fat squirrels enjoyed climbing up the redwoods. While hiking through the Park, we soon realized it was important to keep an eye on the sky. We figured out that when the wind starts blowing the pine cones and huge limbs start falling..... one actually was so loud it sounded like a gun going off. Creepy!! At the end one the trail we witnessed ... read more

So today's adventures were kind of tiring! Running on about 4 hours of sleep collectively, we had to say goodbye (for now) to our couch surfing friend. Parting ways was sad at the hotel, but that just meant it was time for our next part of our journey! We drove 4 hours to Yosemite, starting off in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. There were plenty of cows to go around and windmill things (some kind of wind energy windmills). Once we hit the mountains the ride became quite treacherous, but beautiful. The roads wound around for a couple of hours with nothing between us and the drop down the side. We drove up about 3,000 feet with the top down hoping there wouldn't be a rock slide which was an obvious occurrence. When we ... read more

To start our last day in San Fran, Jordan and I got some coffee and went to the SFMOMA. We saw beautiful paintings by Dali, Stella, Brancusi, and lots of others. Then we took a cab to Haight, went shopping, and on a whim got some piercings. We then met back up with our new friend Michael for dinner at his work, Sens restaurant where we had delicious drinks, appetizers, dinner, and desert. The rest of the night was just totally crazy ahem... anyway, we are now hanging out for our last night in the hotel room! We've had such an amazing time in San Fracisco it will be sad to say goodbye!!!!... read more

Well then! Today was once again fantastic. Jordan, Michael, and I woke up at 7 30 and rushed out to Monterey for our 18 000 ft skydiving adventure. BUT it was so foggy that we actually couldn't jump. We were all VERY disappointed, but in the end I think it was meant to be. Turns out the same company does 18 000 ft at the space center in Fla. so the 3 of us are meeting up in August and we've already paid so it's definitely something to look forward to. We went to the aquarium though, and saw lots of interesting sea life and took lots of pictures. On our 2 hour ride home we played a fun car game that kept us entertained. And that's pretty much it so far, there is still a ... read more

Hey! What a crazy day. We went to the Asian Art Museum to see the Samurai exhibit and met up with our couch surfing friend Michael. After that we attempted to go to a block party which was really dumb. Then we went to Tommy's, a great mexican restaurant and started drinking margaritas. Oh boy this is going to be short....we ended up at Anna's house for dinner and hung out with Luca and a bunch of other Charleston people it was awesome!!!!! And now I'm eating cheesecake...and our couch surfing friend is coming skydiving with us tomorrow. Sorry this wasn't more interesting I've been drinking lots of wine. Goodnight1... read more

Ohhhhh myyyyy goooddd!!!! We left Santa Rosa this morning! And onto our new destination, San Francisco! First thing we did was walk the Golden Gate Bridge. The views were astonishing. There were lots of other people enjoying the scenery as well, all of which were so friendly. Then it was China Town time. We shopped around for a little too long....because of this we actually missed our boat for Alcatraz!!! OOPS! But all was still good, we got on standby for the next boat. The ferry took us across the menacing waters of San Francisco Bay. The currents were strong and the boat was rocking around! And then.....we saw a whale! : ) We walked around Alcatraz for about 2 hours, it was SO COOL! We learned lots about the Prison such as -The location of ... read more

Hello everyone! Today we set out for a scenic drive through the Redwood Forest and up the California Coastal highway 1. It was a long windy road going up, down, and around hairpin turns so sharp that a couple hours later we were actually kind of car sick! We started off at Goat Rock, one of the many enormous formations coming out of the Pacific. There were beautiful pieces of driftwood, gorgeous flowers, big pieces of kelp, and pebbles everywhere. We drove for about an hour after that looking at the cows on the sides of the mountains wondering how they could balance on the edges without falling down the side! Kind of fast forwarding bc Im exhausted right now, we stopped at a wine and cheese shop on the way back in Guerneville. We bought ... read more
