Women wearing tight jeans
I am sorry you are offended that I noticed women wearing tight jeans. I have seen a lot of ladies wearing tight clothing, not just one. Who are you to say what I did and didn't see, were you there? You don't even live in Egypt. And you are right, I did comment on it because I was surprised to see it in a Muslim country, as I know most Muslim ladies pride themselves on their modesty. I don't care what country it is, camel-toe trousers are offensive anywhere. You seem very upset, so YOU obviously care, it's a pity you couldn't take your own advice and shrug it off. Or are you not in your right mind?

Why exactly do I need to check it?? I have no interest in hotels that are in the middle of nowhere!

poor Erin!!!!
I'm so pleased that Erin got decent medical help and that you didn't wait any longer for it. He must have been in a lot of pain and so his surname really shouldn't have to have been altered. Mr Bean is a good one for people to watch as he uses so little English, I can understand why they thought it was amusing, I probably would have snickered too. It is really nice too that they didn't accept any payment and that they looked after you both so well. Hope that by now he is feeling back to normal. Presumably the fact that you have put up a big fence is a positive indicator that he is back to normal. What caused the appendicitis?

wow
Like the library, it looks as though it belongs in Dubai rather than Egypt. I bet that you enjoyed the planetarium too. Am working my way backwards so hopefully I'll find out soon what happened to Erin. I'm pleased that you got to enjoy the comforts of a nice hotel, hope you took your ear plugs. Blimmen humid here at the mo. The forecasted thunderstorm has finally come and so things may get a bit better once it blows over.

Happy New Year
Hi Guys, I've been thinking about you and meaning to check your sight .... Good to see that you both are still exploring and finding new areas to explore. I've never heard of the grand Mufti, what do you think of him. The hospital is looking great! It must be great to complete something that will benefit so many people. Take care xxxx

Hello
Hello mel and erin I have just been offered a job in Sadat, with a company called Sonut. The chairman was on the phone today begging me to fly out there this weekend and come and live there before the end of the month, it all seems so strange. I only applied on the internet yesterday to see what it was all about. Have you heard of them. Reading your blog has been great. I am 28 years old and my wife is younger then me and we have a 6 month old baby. The chap from the company said we would have our own drivers and cars and they would pay for a house for us. But he said we would probably not want to live in Sadat and suggested Cairo and explained everyone lives in Apartments there. It all seems to be going so fast. He has offered to fly us out there this Thursday and sign up on Sunday, this is extremely fast movement for recruitment, and all seems so strange. Would you say there would be stuff for my wife and child to do in Cairo is there an english speaking community. Do you feel it would be safe for them when I'm at work. And is it normal to be given a driver for 24 hours a day is this for security? It all seems so strange but exciting at the same time. Wha do you think of living there in short. The mentions of smell and sewers all seem a bit of putting. James

Yes it is an ornamental pool. Alexandria has interesting history but there is hardly anything left now, a lot of the ancient buildings are at the bottom of the harbour.

hi mel, is that a pool outside the library? it does look flash. i would like to go to alexandria, those ptolemy books i was reading talked a lot about all the greek stuff and building the light house and about how they invented serapis. all that ancient stuff is so interesting.

Your mean
Should we care. I was born in canada but am Egyption in backround, and most of the stuff your saying includes offensive, fake, and plain idiotic trash that most people with the right mind would shrug off. Women wearing jeans so tight that it would be obcene in the West? First of all, thats most likely a lie. Secondly if there is a chance that isnt a lie, your an exploiting exagerating fool, you probably saw 1 girl wearing tight jeans, just like any other woman wearin tight jeans in the West, and you mention it here because you know Egyptions are muslims, and they are basically not supposed to show their "curves" because it averts pervertic eyes. OF COURSE your gonna see egyption/muslim women around the world NOT wearing hijab, wearing tight clothes and all that. BUT you cant make it seem as if everyone does that in Egypt. And no the WEST does this sort of garbage way worse then in Egypt. Why should you care in the first place? Your telling us you want women to show their skin on the street? Thats just moronic.

This is different, people know I am here with my husband. If I am to suddenly turn up without him and tell people he is in hospital, it doesn't look very good.
12th September 2009

Erin is milking it for all its worth...
12th September 2009

loose woman?
Is this different I thought you used to regularly go to cafes for a shisha /people watch cf Syria......?

Hi Melanie and Erin. I heard that you are struggling with back pain again, Melanie. We are praying for you here in N.Z. and hope that you will recover soon. Glad that you were able to find a cake for Erin's birthday - sounds yummy! Ben and I started another round of the Marriage Course on 8th August. Keep the news coming - we enjoy hearing how you are doing.

Happy belated birthday Erin
Hi , Belated birthday greetings Erin. Although the Pizza didn't live up to expectations it sounds as thought the cake made up for the disappointment. All well back here. Its been a very wet winter - usually on the weekends!! However today has been an exception so I got out in the garden for some much needed weeding - made easier by the damp soil. Daniel made himself a sign called "Daniels cave - dare to enter at the risk of death - so don't think I'll be looking in - oh great the cat's just been sick all over the lounge floor - will get back to this in a minute ............................... Back again - GPC is having an international lunch in a couple of weeks so should be interesting. When you come back to NZ you'll be able to treat us to some Egyption specialities - as long as its not PIZZA!!! I haven't managed to find a new home group yet - work is incredably flat out at the moment and I have been working pretty much full time so with that and all the after school activities I'm pretty tired these days. Silva is off to the Cold Kiwi motorcycle rally next month. I guess its hard to imagine how cold it has been here this winter. Well, its goodbye for now - keep up the news I'm really enjoying hearing all about your time in Egypt. Love Lesandre
