Petra Blog Hi Kit - your Petra blog came up when I was googling information about Petra for my own blog. I started reading your blog and couldn't stop! Your writing is so entertaining! Are you still traveling and blogging? I couldn't find anything more recent than 2014.

Response to arlene Nobody watched the baby, she came along in the stroller. Don't miss the opportunity if you are concerned on the walk you can hire a donkey. It's a fabulous place I wouldn't miss it.
thanks for that info You probably saved my life. I would have ventured forth for the hike and that would not be wise since I have a heart condition and in my golden years. Do you know any CD's that would give you a good idea of the experience? i respect honest opinions, thanks again.
Hilarious Read! Stumbled onto the site while searching for "distance from Treasury to Monastery in Petra" in Google. I cracked up after reading this hilarious account of your time at Petra and ended up reading rest of the adventure. Will have to bookmark later and read more! Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful Iran. I am from Mumbai, India. I could never imagine that Iran is such a wonderful country vis a vis Architecture, lovely food and considerate people. Wow !!!. Thank you so much.
I've enjoyed traveling with you... I don't know if I'll ever be able to visit Iran, being an American, but have wanted to do so to finish this section of the Silk Road...I've traveled most of the rest. I love your writing style, and how it revealed the warmth of the Iranian people. I'm looking forward to your next trip!
It's all my pleasure that you had good time in our country especially my city i wish you could transfer your experiences of this travel to other people to come in our city .
Stop Cruel Animal Performances/ Treatment in China! During a visit to China I was taken by my host family to Xiangshawan and whilst there we attended a live animal show.
Here is a short summary of what was witnessed; the link below gives video evidence:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgJwSt7TjeE&feature=youtu.be
•What seems to be a pregnant tiger was made to jump through a ring of fire whilst being threatened by the sound of whips
•A goat was made to walk along a narrow rail, its legs being struck with a metal pipe every moment it hesitated.
•A clearly psychologically harmed bear was made to dance and perform for the crowd
•An elephant was made to perform, the trainer pulling its ears and striking it with a stick when it did not comply.
However this was not the end of it, animals were left outside in cages in the blistering desert heat, confined to their bleak existence.
For all the cases of animal cruelty in many other countries, the insane cruelty animals face in China is on a whole other level. The more I learn of the quite literal *Hell* China has taken every trouble to diligently create and maintain for our poor innocent animals, the less it surprises me that so many people look down at the Chinese. No, I am not racist against them, My very best friend is in fact chinese. But this terrible, terrible culture of *deliberately* torturing animals cannot possibly gain any of my respect, no matter what excuse is used to defend it, be it "cultural heritage" or otherwise. Nothing should be able to justify the torture of animals, especially deliberate and for our entertainment. Ever,
Info about getting to Xiangshawan I'm travelling alone and will be staying in Baotou. I wanted to visit Xiangshawan, the Genghis Khan Masoleum and Ordos City in one day. How much would it cost to rent out a car for the day vs getting bus tickets everywhere? And is that do-able in a day?
travel costs Sorry I'm not sure. But prices have gone up exponentially since we went to xiangshawan in 2007. I visited again in 2012 and just entry cost plus onsite activity costs will set you back 350rmb if you do things like camel rides and 4wheel driving (very fun). Not sure how much to hire a car to take you on your itinerary but you can try calling ctrip.com or cits. Or just as a local backpackers I'm sure there are much cheaper group tour buses
Rock Piles They have many meanings, we found them instresting also when we were there in April. I found a web site that tells about other meanings and sell unique one of a kind items. (Naturallyuniquerock). Really enjoyed the trip to the unique Island of Aruba. We found the best views from the Restruant next to California Light house.
