Pete Ball

Hi I'm Pete and I come from Falmouth in Cornwall. I have just graduated with a degree in primary education this summer.
I'm kinda spontaneous in the way I live my life, so this whole trip is going to be taking life as it comes. Deciding where to go next based on what sounds good at the time.

Leaving Georgetown behind the continuous moving process begins again! The bus ride was pleasant enough I was the only westener on the bus and the woman next to me had to translate the bus drivers messages which was very helpful of her. Her two young boys were very funny and found me very interesting dont think they had met alot of white men. Kota Bhuru what a dump of a place to end up in for the night although the guide book had warned me I still was not quite prepared for how bad it was! After 6 hours of sleep in my green room (no it was not painted green) I was very happy to get a taxi at 3:40am to the train station! The train left at 4:15am so I sat down on the ... read more

Leaving the Highlands behind for the small island Pangkor felt a little strange, (I was yet to realize I had lost my phone and would be returning,) however I was traveling from one location to the next with people for the first time since I started which felt great after several bus rides on my own! Jamie and Charlotte were both great company and the collection of buses and ferry rides to get to Pangkor would not have been half as much fun without them. From the Highlands we got a bus to Ipoh another to Lumut (Oh almost forgot to mention this the wonderful MUFC burger! (see facebook photo) was seen in Lumut!) and then a Ferry to Pangkor, when we touched down on Pangkor we had a futher taxi ride to the main accommodation ... read more

Wow Its been awhile since I updated this, the last week abit have just shot by in a mass of crazyness and fun! Leaving KL was easy enough except the bus was over 30minutes late leaving and did not pull up in the correct place involved several of us running and then sitting for 1/2 hour going no where. Oh well not much change from Britain nothing ever runs on time there either! The Journey from KL to the Cameron highlands was fairly uneventful but had some beautiful scenery. You could tell when the Bus was getting near as it started to climb very steeply and did not stop! I was picked up by Fathers guest house minibus at the bus stop and taken to the guest house. Fantastic meant I did not have to pay ... read more

I have left Singapore behind on what I can only discuss as a luxury bus massive chair, massage built into the seat and about 4 hours of pure relaxation! Arriving in Melaka was an experience, the taxi offers were straight upon me although I had no local currency and had to find a money changer first. Once I had changed money I set off in search of a Taxi, the first one I met wanted 20rm to take me to the hostel, I knew this was to much as Martin had gone the day before and told me it cost 15rm so I ended up walking away and finding another. Arrived at the cafe which was attached to the hostel and about 2mins later Martin walked in could not have timed it better. The dorm was ... read more

Thought I should get this up and running before I go. It's not long now until I leave only 11 days and I will be on that plane bound for Singapore! The bag is sorta packed (I keep finding little things, I have forgotten to pack. And that little solar torch had best hurry up as I am getting very annoyed with the slow postage! Finding the whole idea of going very exciting but at the same time its a bit nerve-racking. Although I'm sure once I get there these nerves will disappear and the adventure will begin. Right now any ideas on how to survive a 14 hour flight with no MP3 player would be amazing although I am told there will be films. (Exciting stuff never been on a flight with films before!) However ... read more
