As we were camping, we went to Ben & Jerry's, which was about an hour away from us. Been there before. We did not take the tour. I know how ice cream is made and had no desire to pay to see it made. Our first stop was the cemetery. The cemetery was revamped. I told my nephew that we were going to their cemetery and he thought it was a cemetery for dead workers. I told him, it was a cemetery of dead flavors. Some of the flavors sound DISGUSTING. Some sounded real good. Some didn't live that long. The last time we were there, Dean ordered coffee-coffee, buzz-buzz. We then walked to the graveyard and saw its headstone. Dean felt like he was ripped-off, because he got a dead flavor. It's no longer a ... read more

North America » United States » Vermont » Stratton Mountain January 17th 2015

My brother called me up and asked if we wanted to go to see an ice castle at Stratton Mountain. So, Dean & I went with them. I didn't know what to expect. It opened up that very same day, so some of the ice was not lit up ~ they were having technical difficulties. There was music playing throughout the display. Otherwise, it was pretty neat and cold and windy. My photos aren't the best, but I refused to take off my gloves. There was a fire pit. It was made out of ice blocks and had 4 long wooden benches around it. We were trying to convince the guys to throw a bench on, but the wouldn't. As we were leaving, about 4 kids were in there and they suggested a game of hide-and-seek. ... read more

We spent the day in Seattle before embarking on a ship to Alaska. Two things that must be seen, that are not part of the normal sight-seeing adventures, are the Bubblegum Wall and the Troll Under the Bridge, aka the Freemont Troll. After landing, we took the Light Link to our hotel. That, in itself, is very different than anything I have ever experienced. First, you have to prepay you trip, then we got off, had to walk about a block to catch a bus, and that dropped us off about 1 block from the hotel. After all was said and done, it cost only $5 for both of us, as opposed to $40 for each to catch a shuttle bus. After that, we were off to see some sights. First stop, the Space Needle. It ... read more

My sister & I went here for a weekend getaway. It was good. We ate at Mr. Nick's Pizza ~ brick oven pizza. It was good and they were friendly. Afterwards, we heading to Philipsburg Manor for the Horseman's Hollow, which is a haunted estate. Before entering, Cindy & I just hung around the property, taking pictures of each other and having a simply good time. Then, you walk down this path which is only lit by candles. It was very dark and very long, probably close to 1/4 mile long. Then you come upon the visitors center and gift store. In the parking lot, where you wait to enter the Horseman's Hollow, they had character actors walking around, trying to scare people. The Headless Horseman was there riding his horse. You'll see several pictures of ... read more

North America » United States » Pennsylvania August 26th 2013

Dean & I spent our 11th anniversary camping in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. We've never been here. We had a great site for camping. We arrived Thursday night and left Sunday morning. Our first full day, we stayed in Pennsylvania. We went to Dingsman Falls. On our way to this waterfall, we meandered along the walkway where we saw Silverthread Falls first. What a pretty waterfall. Then we continued our meandering along the walkway until we finally reached Dingsman Falls. It was much bigger than Silverthread. We walked to the end of the walkway, where you're at it's base. Then we saw a staircase, so of course, we walk up it. Half way up is probably the best viewing of this waterfall. After we were done here, we went to Grey Towers in Milford, ... read more

My husband, his son, and I went to Quebec City ~ our first time. It's a BEAUTIFUL city. We only visited Vieux Quebec (Old Quebec). We did not feel like seeing New Quebec, but we did go to the malls on our first full day, due to rain. Day 1 ~ We arrived at night, so we just set up our tents and ate supper. It was misting, but not bad at all. Day 2 ~ It was pouring rain. We planned to walk around Vieux Quebec, but had to do something inside. We went to the Musee de la civilisation (The Musuem of Civilization). Very interesting. Learned a lot. After that we went to a pub. Unlike here in America, you have to be 18 just to enter the pub. Good thing Nathan is 18. ... read more

On our first full day in West Yellowstone, we drove into Yellowstone National Park and headed to Old Faithful. Stopped along the way to see the amazing sights. We stopped at Black Sand Geyser, saw some animals - not sure if it was a mule deer or a female moose. We also stopped at Midway Geyser Basin. That received its name because it's midway between the West Entrance and Old Faithful. While at Black Sand Geyser, there was a very big crow, I think it could be called a raven, and he was sitting right in the parking lot and Dean fell in love with this bird. He took about a minute worth of video of it while talking to the bird. We stopped at everything! I took so many photos that I filled up my ... read more

North America » United States » Montana » West Yellowstone January 9th 2011

Sorry about not posting this right away. When we entered Yellowstone, I lost internet connection. But I'm finally here finishing up this blog. We are finally off the plane and driving towards West Yellowstone, Montana. As I mentioned earlier, we stayed in a very neat hotel. The town itself is very cute. I would love to go back there again. I ate bison there and I was looking forward to trying it. It was delicious. Yum! They have bison "statues" painted by, I believe, local artists. I got a picture of Dean pretending to "eat" a bison, well, its fur. The three of us had one of those old time photos taken. I wanted to buy a frame too, but was afraid it wouldn't survive the plane ride home. I went walking in the morning, every ... read more

North America » United States » Utah » Ivins July 3rd 2010

I woke up at 3:15 EDT, hopped in the shower and then loaded the car with my suitcase. Then I woke up Dean & Nathan. My sister was at my place early (at least for her). She arrived just on time between 4 - 4:15 am, to take us to the airport. I took some neat pictures of The Badlands (at least I'm pretty sure it was the Badlands). Of course, taking pics through a window don't always come out clear, but I've uploaded a couple. The other pictures are of Utah, Idaho, & Montana scenery. We also stopped at the Golden Spike National Historic Site; this is where the final spike was hammered into place for the Transcontinental Railroad. Not a big place, but it is part of our history. We made it to West ... read more

North America » United States » Massachusetts » Deerfield January 17th 2010

Hi Everyone. Today, Dean & I went to Yankee Candle's flagship store in Deerfield, Mass. We've been there multiple times, so it was no big deal to me. But then I saw someone taking pictures and I decided to take some too, which is something I've never done. You know what they saw, we take for granted what's in our own backyard. I thought others would like to view this amazing destination store. First, let me give you a little background information about the store from what I can recall. First, the man who started it was living in Holyoke, Mass. He created candles either in the basement or the garage of his parents house. Maybe it was the basement with the store in the garage, I can't remember. Eventually, the store grow too big for ... read more
