Fires Keep safe whatever you do. Living as we do on the East coast next to the bush, bushfires are a fear at this time each year. This year the East has been wet while the South and West burn. Living in Oz is a lottery for bushfires...requiring safety first if it comes to be your turn. Thinking of Cindy and you guys at this time. Keep us posted.
Felicitations Hi Andy & Caroline, Was great to meet you this year when we were in Perth for a court case and to visit Cindy (littlewing). We wish you peace, prosperity and good health and thank you for your friendship. Hope we can return to your part of Western Oz in the not too distant future. Have a blast and best wishes from David & Denise in Sydney.
Getting into the lingo ... Hi KJ,
Now we know that you are truly dinky di Aussies, as you are getting the lingo down pat ... "Freo" (Fremantle) ... yep!! that that certainly qualifies. :) Busy as bees this end but the end-of-year schedule is starting to slow down now (thank goodness!). No camping this year (bah humbug!) but, a family Christmas at the Pratt's instead, as Justin has started new job so, no Christmas leave. Merry Christmas (thank you for your card) and happy holidays to both of you - you're always in our thoughts. With lots of love and Christmas Wishes. SkiSet & Co. xoxox
Bah! Humbug! How disappointing Andy, that you didn't get to soar ... but, at least you can take solace in the fact that your donation will go to a good cause. I am always amused by the fact that we now seem to live in an age when everything seems to have to have a fancy, schmanchy name these days, which often leaves you wondering just what it actually means or what it is that someone really does when their "official" title on their business card really doesn't give you any inkling as to what it is they actually do. :) Back in the "old days" it would just have been a gliding club and everybody knew what that meant, but today, it's a soaring society. Guess it's not too hard to make the same connection in this case but, guess I'm just old school and work on the principle of calling a spade a spade, then everybody knows what's going on. :) Sounds like you had a great time anyway even though you didn't get to soar with eagles. :) Love & hugs, J xxx
Man v Machine ... Hi KJ,
We so miss you guys over here. The thought that you were only 3 hours drive away when in Canberra and we could visit anytime we wanted was a good feeling, to now being more than 3 days away (and then some) is not quite the same. Not that we would drive but, you get my drift. :) Must Skype again soon as we miss your smiling faces. :) Once again, congrats Andy, on your weight loss. Yeah ... not eating will do it. :) Anyway, good luck in your further pursuit and a happy cardiologist on the 30th. :) All fine here. Jen's off globetrotting again for the next couple of weeks - business and pleasure. Love you guys. Jan xxx

Go!! muscles .... Congratulations Andy, on a job well done and, and I don't mean just the working bee and rock-laying. The loss of 22 kgs is a cause for celebration too. Well done!! But, keep this up and you'll blow away in the next stiff breeze. :) 33 deg here today after lots of rain and some lovely, more civilised, cooler temperatures this last week. Now back to the heat again (groan!). 38 deg tomorrow and 39 deg on Friday. Thanks for sending YOUR hot weather over. Roll on winter!! :) Lots of love to both. J & T xx
Man Vs Machine Hi guys,
Great to hear from you, please send the heat back we love it.
Yes the 22 kegs has been hard work, well not really all I had to stop was eating !! I want to get to 30 K's by 28th January which will be a year to the day when I started.
Everyone asks me if I feel better and the answer is no, in fact I feel heavier, so the only aesthetic consolation I have is I am looking thinner.
I don't have any more energy and I still like my nap, but mathematically I can demonstrate to myself I am 22 K's lighter.
I has been an interesting journey and I have learned a lot about me, I do realise loosing weight punches a hole in your bank account as I keep having to replace cloths, still I suppose that is a positive because I must be healthier how ever you look at it.
I have a big cardiologist appointment on the 30th of this month, so I want to get there in the best shape I can.
Hope you and Teddy are all well and our love to you all.
Andy

Biting off more than we could chew And what an adventure it has been - covered everything - not just in the travel sense. Appendix, strokes, hernias, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays etc. etc. etc.
Lucky 7 Hi. Congratulations on your 7th anniversary. Of course you made the absolutely best decision to go to Australia. Better yet, keeping us 'wannbes' enthralled with your adventures. Keep up the great blogs, please. We are getting our first snow and temps of -4C, so winter is on the way.

Back in the November of 2008, we embarked on an adventure that would take us out of everything that we were so familiar with, a comfortable life in the UK, friends, family and the English countryside. Some call it brave, others thought that we would be back, but above all, most people helped us embrace the challenge that lay ahead of us.
Weary of corporate life, we emigrated to Australia, with the notion of buying a 4 wheel drive and camper trailer and a 12 month trip to explore our adopted country, Not an easy thing to do as we had to start from scratch, simple things like knife, fork, s... full info
