Jacque finally met Warwick Landy from Australia who he'd been looking for since the beginning of the week.We started our 205 mile tour to the Grand Canyon North Rim at 7:25 am. Temperature was 71 degrees. Now we know why the Canyon is called Grand, it really is. At the visitor's center we asked what was the best route to take through the park. The ranger was a very personable young woman. Come to find out she is Beth Zovko from Pittsburgh in our own state. The highest elevation we reached today was 8859 ft. We got back to Kanab 22 degrees warmer-93,tired ... read more

July 24th, 2013 5:40 pm MDT Day 15 Today picked up our bag lunch at the host hotel @ 7:45 am and headed out for Cedar Breaks National Monument, 130 mile tour. We encountered the highest elevations on the tour, 11,333 ft. The pictures will again tell more than we can write. There are so many beautiful sights to see here in the Kanab area. The most challenging drive of the day was the climb to the top of Brian Head Peak, the sign has 11,307 ft, but the road went higher after the sign. Here on top of the mountain it felt like you were on top of the world. At 6:00 pm there is a Pioneer Days Parade here in Kanab. It will go right by our motel, then there is a picnic for ... read more

July 20th, 2013 8:40 pm MDT Day 11 After breakfast I checked speedometer to see why it stopped working. After checking cable and 2 to 1 gear box everything was working, hooked cable to speedometer and it's been working fine all day. Then we went to host hotel to check on the dyno. testing, they were not set up yet. We came back later and we were the first one to test. Since the altitude is around 5,000 ft. 25% is added to the test readings. Our car tested out at 14.01 hp at the rear wheels, adding 25% = 17.51 hp to rear wheels. They said that was good. We watched people coming in to register for the tour. Two of the registrants were our own Keystone Cops Members Don & Carol Manherz. Don carries ... read more

July 19, 2013. 8 PM MDT Today was a catch-up day. Did laundry, cleaned car, which was very dirty after being in a rain storm. Those wire-spoked wheels are not fun to clean. We went to the Host motel and registered for next week's tour which will run Monday through Friday. While Jacque was polishing the brass on the T, two men stopped by to talk. The one man from Tennessee said he had passed us on the open range yesterday during the rain storm. We had pulled to the side to put the curtains on the car and he blew the horn as he passed with his car in a trailer. He was worried about us making it to Kanab and looked on several of the motel parking lots hoping to see our car. The ... read more

July 17th, 2013 7:55pm Mt Time Day 8 We left Walsenburg at 7:20am, weather was sunny and cool, our travel today is 303 miles to Cortez, CO. We drove 24 miles to the Old La Veta Pass, 5.6 miles of winding dirt roads. The scenery was beautiful, rocks had fallen off mountain and onto the road. We stopped at the summit in Uptop Ghost town. There is one house there that someone lives in, I believe they take care of the other buildings. There is a one room museum and a small Church and a few other buildings. The elevation at the La Veta Pass summit is 9,414 ft. You can search the Old La Veta Pass on the Internet. The mountain range is gorgeous. We made it up another mountain with an elevation of 9363 ... read more
