Loved your 40 steps What a fun way to write about a crappy situation. Your blog made me laugh and feel as though I were there. Thanks for sharing this.
Awesome!! hey
loved this! so great to hear your take on the trip...loved getting to know you guys in SPB too! Thanks for welcoming us into the 'gang' :>)
We've been reading a few of your older blogs We are enjoying your travel adventures. We like and share your philosophy that travel is a priority. We do the same. Love your sarcasm. Happy travels and a simplified life!
We recently visited Cuba Havana is an amazing city and hope you will go there next time. Enjoyed the photos. Looks like you learned a lot on this trip.
Restaurant Michal I guess it's a thing of personal opinion but for me is Restaurant Michal definitely a “must go” if you want to learn more about Czech culture and food while in Prague. They obviously pay a lot of attention to detail, the interior is nicelydecorated with real traditional costumes and paintings and the evening show is allabout Czech folklore music and dances. They even show you instruments used only in these parts of Europe (something like bagpipes) and describe the origin of dances. All
of that while you enjoy Czech cuisine, which by the way was really good. The waiters were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was great. Overall, the evening was a success.
nice blog! agree with you but also with Shane about being lucky for living in a country in which we can save money. I also hate it when people tells us that they wish they could travel, but they have mortgages, children, etc... there are many ways to simplify your life in order to travel even if you have mortgage and kids... it's just a matter of prioritizing! Deni
could not agree more;-) cant stop telling people exactly the same things when they say 'You are lucky to be traveling for 18 months'... how do they think we were able to finance that? same tricks as yours hahha Unbelievable how spending on little things can add up over a year or so;-) I suggest CouchSurfing as a 'Be nice. Make friends' technique... me met so many new people and through them we get invites to stay with others;-) love this blog - very true preaching Agent!!! ;-)
happy travels,
Beata
Both Lucky and Disciplined I really enjoyed this blog, but will slightly disagree with one point. I think that the vast majority of bloggers on this site are lucky, we are lucky to live and work in a country that allows us to generate savings, whereas someone sitting in Africa or parts of Asia who earn a couple of dollars a day will never be able to travel - for them a plane flight will cost almost a year's wage. Thus I consider myself lucky in that regard, however, I do not consider myself lucky when compared to my fellow Australians, the difference is that I am disciplined. I have a goal - overseas travel - and it is my prime motivator in the way I spend money. Thus no mortgage, no car, cook almost all my own meals at home, ignore the latest fashions and trends, only allow myself very few nights out to see concerts or the theatre. Sure, I have items I love to purchase (books, CDs, DVDs, board games) but I do need to occupy my time whilst saving elsewhere. Every time I buy a meal outside of home it is taking savings away from my travel fund. I rarely go on weekends away (only three in ten years, with two for attending weddings), these really suck your savings - a $600 budget for flying interstate for a weekend is the equivalent of two weeks accommodation in Asia or Africa. I know where I would rather spend my cash. It is interesting how many people take several domestic weekend trips a year, yet they say I'm lucky to travel overseas. It is a simple equation - you may not be able to afford both (like me) but that overseas trip is possible if you genuinely want to make that your goal.
Great job! Lol Great blog Ange! Amazingly I made all of my flights home (22 hrs). Wish my return was greeted in a better fashion (my apartment is now a hospice for Kali - just a matter of time - not what I expected to come home to:-(
Cheers,
M
I am super tired from 2 1/2 hours of tennis in 85 degree heat in Memphis...I need to organize some private tours for our trip on the Carnival Breeze on October 1, and another one on the Sea Princess on July 22 San Francisco to Alaska...but I couldn\'t NOT read every word of this hilarious, disrespectful, tongue-in-cheek sometimes, but helpful, blog! I laughed so hard that I was nearly crying relating some of the stories to my husband, and he laughed when he heard them, especially the part about the \"stickers arriving\" and the way you were all alert on the FIRST private tour, before \"everyone was asleep\" on the future tours. He once slept through nearly every minute of a St. Lucia trip (from imbibing with people just like you the night before, probably), even the boat ride back to the ship. He ONLY awoke long enough to have lunch at a private home, with beer included, of course. I hope I get to meet you and your \"gang\" on some Carnival cruise along the way....we are major travelers like you, and like to get ourselves into lovely out-of-the-way places with fun people like you!
I've discovered I pretty much want to see and do everything... but I thought I would set a more realistic goal to begin... 40 countries before I turn 40 and as many friends as I can make along the way... I reached my goal in July of 2013, and now I'm just adjusting it to add at least another new country every year.
So here's where I've been: Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Japan, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Vatican City (wikipedia says this is a country, and I've not bothered to research if that is actually true), St. Maarten/St... full info

We were here June 18, 2013. Had a nice bottle of beer and enjoyed the view.
