People are worried about me? Hmmm...they'd be even more worried if I included descriptions of the roads and driving!! Try Googling for "North East India" + terrorism, too, if you really want to scare them. On the other hand, life is inherently tenuous, so best make the most of it.
too good You might have missed the confluence but wow ! what a trip. reminds me of heart of darkness - that intense.
No new here. all fine . I follow your blog with interest but some of the others are worried for you! They think you would be much safer in Europe!

Yes, Bihu was great... and I must thank you for your advice about trying to line up people for permits BEFORE getting there..we haven't met that many travellers here in the North East.
great photos James I have sent you a private email via this blog, hope it arrives ok. Fantastic to see you travelling and feeel quite jealous. Your photos are great, bring back lots of memories..there is a real sense of being there with you. Hope the bike went ok. Magic that we can be there too so keep enjoying for all of us..all that glitters is gold??
love pam
G'Day It is good to hear you are alive and well. I am sure the students will get a kick out of blogging with you. I will ensure something is in next weeks newsletter.
maybe we will meet in NE Hi, been through your blogs wanting company and the offer of a motorcycle ride. I am sure you will enjoy the motorcycle ride very much. I am from Assam but live in Delhi and hopefully I might run into you in April. I and a friend are taking a 25,000 km motorcycle trip through all the north eastern states from March (Inshallah) and it would be great if we meet.
If your students can read your blogs about NE India it would be simply great. We have a very different lifestyle and culture and there is very little in common with the rest of India.
Enjoy your trip..
Cheers

Good luck! Have a great trip, found your site when I was intrigued that someone had asked for travel companions for NE India. No one ever goes there. I spent the summers of 2005 and 2006 (and plan for 2008) in Shillong in Megalaya. It's easily my favourite part of the world. AND absolutely no tourists, not one the entire time, but that looks set to change soon.
How are you going about getting permits? I never needed one for Megalaya.
Best of luck!
