Travel is a form of meditation. It focusses the mind. When you arrive somewhere you have your tasks laid out before you. There is no time for dillydallying. Where are you gonna sleep? How are you gonna get there? What are you gonna eat? Those are the first and most important questions that are raised. Everything else is periphery. Having those core requirements clears the mind of all other thoughts. Once you are settled down and evaluating the worthiness of your hostel/hotel/couchsurf, only then may you be able to reflect on the true nature of the new surrounds that you find yourself in.
