ok, so here in Valladolid, a bigger town on the way to Chichen Itza, im sitting in a lovely hostel that has been converted out of an old nunnary next to a big colonial church. pretty cool, bright colours everywhere, 2 pet chihuahas (everyone has one!) to play with (its ok mum and pat they´re fine :p) and lots of mexican music blearing. Plus there is an excellent internet connection, my last blog was from somewhere where it took me a whole hour to type that little amount because it would have to load each sentence slowly! So... after dumoing our gear at the Chalupa hotel, we got up very early and caught a cheap taxi out to the grand cenote! (Dad you´ll love this). It is one of the best cenotes to see in the ... read more

Hola amigos! just to update you on our situation here, since we are stuck waiting over an hour for a bus at the moment. Today we are in Cobá, but i will start where i left off last time. We caught the free bus from our hostel, The Weary Traveller (which was pretty average really, but they raved about it in lonely planet-second night there we had a full dorm and one of the older guys was keeping us up all night coughing his lungs out and peeing with the door open in the bathroom so it echoed round the whole bloody room! but anyway...) the bus dropped us about 1km from the Tulum ruins-at the beach. We walked up the road to find a few giant tours of people had just arrived-yay!>not! but the ruins ... read more

hola amigos! so we´re in hot steamy Tulum after spending the night in Cancun last night. We flew in late and made it to the hostel Nest at about 9pm. We ate dinner at a cute little park called Parque las palapas which was up the road, we bought soft tacos and a drink for total $50 pesos = around $5US for both of us. then headed to the supermarket... theres no soap or toilet paper at the hostel! before heading back before 11am - when the desk clerk goes to bed and locks the gates for the night. (no one has keys at this place-you ring the bell out front and they let you in). We went to bed in a dorm with 12 beds, but only one other was occupied - or so we ... read more

so, we went for a loooong walk to hollywood and sunset blvd yesterday, saw all the stars on the 'sidewalk' and all the famous hand and footprints at the chinese theatre. We got offered a crazy amount of 'see the stars' tours and ended up having a gross burger for lunch in a pub called snow white... all snow white pics etc EVERYWHERE! after the long walk back we both had such sore feet, but hey I guess it was worth it :) Dario has to be boring at the moment because he still has uni work to finish by March but hopefully he'll be finished in the next week and will stop being boring :p anyway this is just a quick update with the very few pics we have taken. Oh and we had waffles ... read more

Ok, so we made it to the first port of call. Plane left an hour late from Sydney but thats hardly much wait compared to previous trips. Within an hour of takeoff we had a medical emergency on the plane and the pilot was asking for a dr of medicine to come forward, and the girl involved sat a row in front but in the middle section (we were in a window section of the 747), so we got to see all the comings and goings, poor thing was very ill. On top of this though we had 2 toddlers in our section who had decided that when everyone else was trying to sleep they would not and instead would insist on playing with their parents or cry because no one was giving them attention!!!!
