Weather progressively wet and dull so an ideal day for a visit to the Te Papa museum which is one of the best museums I’ve visited. Fascinating well presented exhibits detailing the history of the land, creatures, people and culture of New Zealand from the geology through Moari and then European immigration. The room simulating the bird sounds that would have been heard pre human settlement particularly poignant given that so many native creatures are now extinct due to foreign introductions such as the rat, cat and stoat.
