I feel your pain I always have having to leave somewhere beautiful behind. If I feel like there's alot of the local that Ive missed and I have little time to cover it all Ill use Audio guides they just seem easier to me you can find them almost anywhere but my favorite site right now is www.allaudioguides.com

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often. Sarah http://grillsblog.com

Law?
You have so much visual acuity and intuition (and let's not forget about your love for travel) that it is hard to visualize you as a lawyer... Good luck with your quest!

Nice "Slice" of New York City
Enjoyed your flavorful description of your school hunt in NYC. Both the story and the unusual angles in many of your images distill this unique quality of the place... I am not a Midwesterner but share your feelings about this city...

Your Barcelona Picture
I forgot to tell you about the building in your picture... It is not a castle; it is a church: the temple of sacred heart (Temple de Sagrat Cor) on top of Tibidabo mountain. The modern building in the background is the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce....

Travel safe. You did to do what's best for you not someone else and if heading home is what you need then do it. Safe travels home.

Barcelona and Return Home
I am sorry that you had to cut your trip short! In a selfish kind of way, I will miss the great blogs that you would have created if you had kept your original plans... But I am sure that this is just a postponement... The travel bug is forever with you and you will be at it sooner than you might think (and in a way that will make you happier, with no trade-offs as it would have been the case this time). Your great images from Barcelona brought me great memories. Thank you for that! That city is very close to my hearth because it was there where my World wanderings and many other good things started for me... Too bad that you did not try the food!

Vesuvius
I was born in the shadow of a volcano and used to enjoy climbing them and even descending into their craters (of the inactive ones, of course); but you did an exceptional job capturing the beauty of the most famous one of them all! Congrats!

Agree
It's always cool to say you've walked on a volcano!

Top of Vesuvius
I'm jealous! I was there in '03 and wanted to go to the crater, but the volcano was erupting and was OFF LIMITS! In October '07 I went to Hawaii to helicopter over Kilauea, and it was socked in by rain and clouds all week! I'll NEVER see a real volcano!! Great Pictures, by the way! Kim

Excellent Blog!
This is a very thoughtful and well written blog! With the current understanding of what transpired during the last hours and minutes at Pompeii and Herculaneum (after the 79 A.D. Vesuvius eruption), your account of your visit's experience gives the subject a personal and very close human dimension. I wanted to keep reading more!

Great Blog
Ciao! I enjoy reading your blog, it brings back memories when I used to live in Rome. Thanks for sharing your experience, and enjoy Italy! 'Una cena senza vino e' come un giorno senza sole'.

Italy
Great visual perspectives on your sculpture/architecture photos and great cultural perspectives of your experiences with Italians and their country... I enjoyed them both!

Looks like you had some pretty blue skies for photos! I was so bummed with the haze when I was there. Congrats! I loved the Forum as well.

I understand
Oooohhhh....pictures! Am so jealous seeing them! Want to go back. Glad you're enjoying Italy! One of my nights in Florence I ordered a pizza. Ordered in italian and wasn't sure what I'd get-just said the heck with it-I'm trying. It was a delicious ham, pineapple, blue cheese and mushrooms (except for the mushrooms where I share your hate). It was something little but I was so proud of myself for trying. So...understand what you mean!

Congrats!
Glad to see you made it to Rome and are enjoying yourself! Look forward to reading more about your adventures. As far as internet cafes, I didn't find many which would allow photos to be uploaded. Only spot was in Venice. I'm sure there are some in Rome, though, but when I was there the internet at the hotel worked for my laptop so I uploaded from it. Hope you find a spot because I'd love to see your photos.

More In Hollywood
If you are still in the Hollywood area on Sunday, you should think about heading to their Farmer's Market. It takes up four blocks and has some really good food and produce. I occassionally make the trek over to it via the light rail from Pasadena.
