Howdy!
The wrestling looks like something else! Do they volunteer spectators to try their luck in the ring? :-) The view from Isla Del Sol looks amazing. Really beautiful.

Hi Guys Your travels sounds pretty awesome and I can't wait to embark on something similar. South America sounds/looks very nice and quite easy to travel in. Hope all goes well and enjoy it! h

classic!
Really classic tourist stuff done here hey? Looked absolutely beautiful. Love your highlight/lowlight and miss most comments =). Did I tell you I've handed in my Masters application? (not to mean I'm going to be accepted, or if accepted, do it, but there we go, it's in =) ). Hoping to do Robben Island with friend from US on Sat, but now the Robben Island workers are striking - home sweet home! Happy bus ride, tourists!! love A

Nice!!!
Oh man, I know I'm not supposed to be jealous, but can I make an exception in this case? On another note, Fräulein Kummer came to visit me tonight. She was here for a week and is off again on Friday, brought some Dallmayr coffee. My own sister and family has also left after a month - we truly miss the baby... I miss you, Marco!
21st October 2011

Hey Phil and Marco, thanks for the update! Looks amazing!
13th October 2011

by my calculations you are all acclimatised by now and heading up tmrw! joining the throngs who have gone before you... enjoy!! have you seen a condor yet?? please tell me you will! was going to go climbing Table Mountain with Lois and co this Saturday - they organised it months ago - but people have bailed on them, so we\'ll do something else. thought of you, P, and how you\'d have something to say to those bailers!! =)I think I sat down for 20 mins at work todaty, scoffed my lunch and gulped my tea. It\'s been so busy, but I\'m loving it. Weather has been amazing! Loving it too. Keeping track of your movements on a map. God bless you and all your memories. love A

Hi P and M, it all sounds a bit painful. It\'s annoying how a land border crossing has different requirements to an airport border crossing but you end up in the same place...but it should all come right in the end, minus some hair and cash :) Did you get any surfing done? Don\'t get too used to Miraflores, that\'s like Sandton - the rest of the country is far less fancy, but as interesting. Enjoy the hike, take some coca leaves for the altitude (and because you can) - in fact, I think you can order coca tea at the McDonalds. And say hello to the squillion stone steps for me: there is a reason the Incas never invented the wheel. Cheers, Derek

Hershley Squirts and all that
Hi P and M, wow, you really seem to be winning on the downside of backpacking. But your villages sound interesting and look picturesque, and your hiking sounds like a good challenge, not to mention the most peculiar game I've heard of...?.... Might have to have a look myself some time. I hope you are at least having fun more often then not. When in doubt, drink beer. How are the other travellers? And the locals? Any interesting music or books? Be good, Derek

Looks amazing!
Hey guys, this really does make for interesting reading - Pippa, I really had to chuckle when it came to the stomach bug and no loo paper...you always like to be ORGANISED! You also mentioned that your last evening would be with hostel friends and having a braai -apart from the ants, what is the meat like? Well no matter what rough times you guys may encounter, do something like this together "braving the big unknown" will be in thoughts forever ...think about it, was is the chances of doing it again? Enjoy guys, and stay safe!

keep swimming keep swimming
We're marchin on, we\'re marchin on! Guys, this blog made me feel particularly exhausted. Were you very tired when writing it? Descriptions briefer and less euphoric/jokey than previous ones - so many expereinces it\'s exhausting to think of capturing it in words? Pictures are good for that... =) (that beach looks like a pool!, and the mozzie bites are for real!) What an epic trip! Am so glad you were kept safe through that mugging. May that be the last. Am having a super busy sociable wkend ... will mail you, P. I owe you a newsy mail! Have a happy trip onwards! God bless, love A

The flu\'s going around here in S-West/CT... Hope you guys recup quickly. Guess it\'s all part of the S American/travel experience, hey - being travellers rather than tourists, getting bit messed up along the highlights road... still can\'t beleive you\'re really there. x

You guys are looking so fit and healthy!! It looks as though you are having an awesome time. However, try not to make friends with any more wasps as we would like you back spotless :-) We love the photos! Have a terrific time in Colombia. Missing you guys.

Guys, seriously? Is this for real? Tarantulas, anacondas, piranas, shelters in the Rainforest...!! It's too much of coolness! on our side, the excitment is the Rugby world cup... choices choices! =) Glad you chose the flight to Colombia! Happy new leg of the journey!! love A

Finally worked it out!
At last we have worked out how to act!ivate your blog ! Can't believe that your new Spanish friend was reading miguel's book. What a coincidence. Hope you get to Colombia without too much hassle. While in Rio did you see Aroldo, and visit Rua Sambaiba? Renovations on the Brew have started. Dad has lists... and more lists of what's to be done next. B&B busy. Keep well and hope future backpackers give more creature comforts. Love Mom and Dad Love from us both,

Is that Colombian border THE colombian border that is completely surrounded by forest and not known for being very safe...you know, that border crossing along the Amazon you showed me, that you thought you'd better not take. Rather fly into the city on the other side of Colombia??? You should now be one day from Manaus... I hope you find that plane... Have fun, my adventurous, amazing friends!! love A
30th August 2011

no! you can't lug that camera across the seas and then comment that you missed a National Geographic moment with the hummingbird!!! But at least you got AWESOME photos of those pools - just like you'd imagine, and just like you showed me in your guidebook before you left - can't believe you're (were) there! Washing machines are overrated =). Keep travelling and loving it. And about those restaurants you can never eat at cos of budgets - my sister once taught me in Greece that the occasional eat out is part and parcel of exploring the country... and does a lot to lift your spirits as you enjoy something (hopefully) tasty and different. So, maybe give it a go once a week or so? love A
