So our quick but so worthy stopover in Probolinggo was over and once again we took the train for our ongoing journey. We organized a grab to go the the train station. Have we mentioned in our blogs that travelling in South East Asia is now so easy with grab or gojek? No hassle with annoying taxi drivers, just use the app and have a cheap taxi drive in a decent car - reliable and fair. And what we exerienced, 99% of the drivers are super friendly and informative.Well, it also has its downsides, as the adventures times are a bit over. From Probolinggo it is a wonderful 5 hours train ride through amazing landscapes to Banyuwangi. We took the cheapest class on the train this time, ekonomi. It still is super comfortable. Unfortunately it was ... read more

We left Yogyakarta at 9am by train. Getting train tickets in Indonesia is pretty straightforward once you know how the system works. Kereta Api, the indonesia railway, has a website where you can easily book the train you want. However, many international credit cards are not accepted there. So we booked the train tickets easily on traveloka.com. You can chose between ekonomi class (lowest), bisnis class (middle), eksekutif (most expensive one) on normal trains. You pay the ticket by credit card and will be sent a confirmation. With the confirmation, just show up at the train station 1 hour before departure, scan the code on the confirmation at one of the machines and your final ticket will be printed. Easy, quick and really straightforward. We chose bisnis class for our trip from Yogyakarta to Probolinggo. And ... read more

We arrived with Air Asia early evening in Yogyakarta International Airport. Getting the free visa on arrival for 30 days (which can not be extended) was easy. No questions, no comments we did not even have to show our ticket of transport out of the country. We gave the customs our passports, without looking we got the stamps - that was it. It just started to pour down when we wanted to leave the airport. A real tropical thunderstorm. Problem with the storm: no WIFI which meant no grab car for us. But as we did not want to wait in the middle of really annoying taxi drivers we went through it and found a taxi driver with an ok price. Not as cheap as grab but still quite good. So we took the taxi and ... read more

After 3 years finally we were on the way to our absolutely favourite city in Asia: Kuala Lumpur. For those of you who follow us since quite a while, it is nothing new that we really like Malaysia, its people, nature and: Kuala Lumpur. It was already our 4th visit to this town. But let's start from the beginning. From Istanbul we flew Fly Dubai to Dubai - if you can avoid to fly with this airline - avoid it! You will get nothing but water on this 5 hour flight and it is more than cramped and unpleasant. So it was such an amazing surprise when we entered the A380 of Emirates. The flight was completely booked but we were lucky enough to get the ermergency seats. So, lots of leg space and no neighbours, ... read more

Our bigger trip this winter was coming closer. We were really exhausted from a crazy year. It was a blessed year, but also a difficult one for us. I think, never before we were in such a desperate need of a break. We had chosen to travel far east this winter. On the search of some cheap flights we came across a complete bargain to Istanbul - and from Istanbul flights to South-East Asia were again a lot cheaper than flying directly from Switzerland. It was a bit complicated to figure out the flight route for this trip. But in the end we had a brilliant plan. And this plan started with a really early morning walk in freezing temperatures to the bus station in our village on Lake Thun followed by a 2 hour train ... read more

Europe » Switzerland » South-West » Zermatt October 29th 2019

We have travelled around the world - but we have not travelled to some places where the whole world travels to. One of these places is the Gornergrat in Zermatt. Nearly all travellers say that one has to visit this special place once. It was somehow on our bucket list, but definitely not in summer when you probably tramp on the tourists. We wanted to go there in off season when it is less crowded and cheaper. When Markus had to work on a project at the entrance of the Mattertal, the valley that leads to Zermatt, by the end of october, we checked the weatherforecast and it was a quick decision. We could organise the work on a friday, we booked a hotel room for a night and I (Nina) came with Markus. Basically, it ... read more

Sometimes, the craziest ideas lead to memorable experiences - in this case, a trip with a scooter through parts of Switzerland. Oh man, was it great fun! I, Nina, needed a break from the daily routine. I was too tired of working never-ending hours. OK, by working for your own company, this is different. But still, when creative ideas stop coming and one is only tired, then it is definitely time for a short break. So I decided to go to Ticino, the italian speaking part of Switzerland. As we are currently expanding our business to this region, a trip had the pleasant side effect to know this region a bit better (and to look for places where we might establish our second office is the near future). Markus could not join straight away, but came ... read more

We are more and more against booking supercheap flights with budget airlines since it is more and more evident that these airline need to make money with different "services" such as spraying. We have our own opinion about this and do not want to support chemtrail activities. But this is not the point in this blog. Nevertheless, this time, we booked such a cheap flight as we simply could not find another option to come to our destination. For only 32 hours we flew to Braga in Portugal. From Switzerland it is a short 2 hours flight. We landed in Porto late morning with a fantastic spring weather and really warm temperatures. We took our rental car and drove the short way to Braga. Braga is a city in the north of Portugal about 40 min. ... read more

7 years ago we made a decision which changed our lifes quite a bit. We started to build our own company int he field of natural energy systems. To be more precise, we sell solutions in the field of alternative heat generation (hot water and heating). After a tough start business in running smoother now every year and since 1 year we have a new business partner for a special segment. And this business partner has its head office in Lodz in Poland. So it was time for a business trip. We needed some training on the products and wanted to visit our partners in general. So here our first blog of a business trip. Our amazing time in South Africa was coming to an end - at least on this trip. After one last amazing day in the Pilanesberg National Park, in the evening we drove down south again and close to Rustenburg in the Magaliesberg we stayed for one last night at an amazing place. We wanted to spoil us a bit for our last night on the trip and had booked in a amazing countryside guesthouse called Berit's Country Home & Chapel. It is close to the Olifants Nek in a farmers region. In this area of the Magaliesberg there are many, many nice lodges perfect for big events and festivities. This includes weddings. That is why Berit's Country home indeed has an own chapel. And it is beautiful in a stunning location. The owner who welcomed us ... read more
