I first came to China as a study abroad student in pre-Olympic Beijing, then returned several months after graduation to travel around the country. I have taught English in Hawaii, Korea, and Guatemala. I completed my MA TESOL in December 2012 and moved to Shanghai.
I love teaching because it incorporates so many interesting elements: art, psychology, problem-solving, linguistics, and cross-cultural communication. I also appreciate that it allows me to spend time in interesting places, to pursue my own language studies, and make connections with others in the field of EFL and in my local community.
I currently work in an intensive English program for high school and college students hoping to study abroad in the US. In my free time, I like to study Mandarin, practice yoga, and explore the city and surrounding area.
