Geo: -14.4657, 132.264We arrived fairly early 11 am into Katherine Big4 Caravan Park. Lovely park being 40 acres of lawned areas. The day is hot again, about 39c and fairly humid. After setting up camp we had to shop and re-stock the fridge again. Jen & Nat had a swim in the pool. David & I pottered around the van and it was our turn to cook tea. Chow Mein yum. Saturday we started at the information centre to book a tour for Sunday of the 3 gorges and find out some info on Kakadu as rumour has it parts of the park are still closed due to crocs. That seemed to take ages. We went to the local flea market and didn't find anything to buy. Onto the Katherine museum where we spent a couple ... read more

Geo: -14.925, 133.072Arrived here about 11am and booked into Bitter Springs CP. Great sites surrounded by palms and trees. Feels really tropical. So does the heat. Set up camp and did some washing. Whoopee guess you all wanted to know that. Jen & Nat finally have time to put on the annexe so they are happy. First swim in the thermal pool was darn good. Bit murky compared to 2013 but we don't care. Not much wild life seen on our travels but the countryside is so green they don't need to come near the roads to eat. Lots of eagles and hawks. Heaps of small lizards around our camp and some small frogs. We went to see the barramundi get fed today with Nat being brave enough to get in the pond and feed them. ... read more

Geo: -16.2634, 133.375Seems to be the normal routine now. Woke at 6 am had brekkieand left Tennant Creek about 8.30. Filled up for fuel and the guy asked me if Ihad a library card in Tennant Creek. With much winking and nodding of his headI said YES. Saves 4c per/L on the fuel. We arrived at Daly Waters about 1.30and booked into the caravan park. This is a managed park and you are assignedto a site. Stacked in like sardines already. Locals say the season is startingearlier the past few years. Last time we were here in 2013 it was spot thevans. Sunny day with a hot wind, must be about 34 -36c here. Don't really knowas we don't have TV reception. Had tea at the pub, very good meal and they havesome live music. Everything ... read more

Geo: -19.6498, 134.19Had a good night at Connors Well and woke about 6.30 to a beautiful blue sky. We had brekky and set off for Devils Marbles. Stopped at Barrow Creek for a pit stop and looked around the pub. Reminds us of William Creek. So many mementos from travellers. Didn't take camera in, sorry. Back in the car to Whycliff Well for fuel as Barrow Creek was out of fuel. Only a quick stop there and then onto Devil's Marbles. Amazing place. Check out the pics. Anyway it was hot and windy and didn't look too inviting to stay so we decided to travel another 100km to Tennant Creek. Got in about 2pm.Just as well we came here as the darn car played up again. Some stupid sensor that Mazda charged us $600 for about ... read more

We arrived inAlice Springs around 12 and had to top up on groceries and fuel. We decided tobuy lunch and David & Nat logged in to do footy tips. On our way again witha stop at the Tropic of Capricorn. We arrived at our free camp Connors Well andbeing the 1st to arrive we got a great spot for the night. Lots andlots of flies. Geo: -25.8384, 133.3We left Pootnoura about 8.30. This seems to be the norm for us oldies. Some grey nomads get going about 6 am but we soon pass them on the road. Today is sunny and therefore lots of flies. We stopped at the border for some photos and fuel at Marla. We arrived at Kulgera about 1.30, set up camp and made a beeline for the showers. It's been awhile since we have had one, maybe that is why the flies are hanging around. Jen & I went to the ladies and found it in the stages of being renovated. We had nowhere to hang clothes or towels and had to stand in communal area to get dressed or fight with the cold shower curtain. Of course the guys had a wonderful shower with their ... read more

Geo: -28.5789, 134.278Still overcast and windy we left Pimba at 8.30. Not longinto this drive we heard a large bang and hiss from the engine. Aargh whatcould it be….. We pulled over and found to our relief it was only the hose forthe turbo charger. Handy David fixed it no probs. We stopped at Glendambo for fuel and found about 50 bikersthere as well. Not sure where they were going but we have had so many more passus along the way. They are all heading south.Coober Pedy was another fuel stop and lunch. Only 75km moreto our next stop at the free camp Pootnoura. We arrived there about 2.30 andthe place filled up with vans and backpackers. So many people on the road thistrip. Geo: -34.8121, 138.658Start of the trip picking up the Caravan from mums place. Saying our farewells and then heading off to meet up with Nat and Jenny at Dublin. Im so excited to be going away with friends. Just wish all our friends could come with us.Left home at 7.30 am to pick up caravan from Irene's. Forgot school was back and traffic was heavy. This made us late to meet Nat & Jen at Dublin. Filled up with fuel here. We had lunch at Port Augusta (Maccas) again topping up with fuel. We arrived at Pimba for our 1st night at 3.30 pm. We decided to have tea at the Pimba roadhouse. Oh my goodness we could have had 1 meal between 2 they were so large. We stumbled back to our campsite and rugged ... read more

Geo: -32.4916, 137.762Well we did the right thing......maybe..... we turned south at the junction. Guess we are going home.We spent the last night in the caravan park and it was good to put the heater on. Darn it's cold. After having t shirts and thongs on for the last 8 weeks its bloody cold here. Not much to tell now besides pack up and go home. We are not looking forward to the bumpy roads here in SA. WA have such nice smooth roads. We looked at the roadside stops and free camps from the border until almost home and Mambray Creek is the only one that looked any good. South Australia has a lot to learn if they want tourists to stop near their towns and spend the kids inheritance.Well folks that is it. Hope you all ... read more

Geo: -32.1261, 133.675Its been a great holiday but we have almost reached the stage of no return. We have decided the holiday doesn't end until we turn the corner at Port Augusta as we can still head back up the highway. If only......Anyway we went on the tour of the Kalgoorlie Superpit on Monday which took 2.5 hours and it was brilliant. Matt the tour guide had worked in the mine and he was just full of information about the running and the history of the mine. We wish we could remember all the details for you but damn we are getting older and it went in one ear and out the other. They were getting ready to blast 2 areas but we were already running late to leave Kal and didn't hang around for that as ... read more
