Day 1 (12/10/2018) Went to the weighbridge & weighed the caravan on the way to Traralgon. Came in at 2660kgs, so well under the limit. Ball weight a bit heavy at 240kgs, but we will learn to load it a bit differently & adjust what we carry. Arrived at Traralgon just on 12 Noon & set up. Rest of the day spent at the Lions convention Day 2 (13/10/2018) Spent all day at the Lions convention. Day 3 (14/10/2018) Departed Traralgon at 8.00AM. Stopped for a late lunch at Cann River, before arriving at Merimbula at 2.45PM. Set up the caravan & during the evening had electrical issues. Found 10A fuses in place when they should be 20A. Not impressed. Went about looking for all other issues with the caravan & making notes for everything to ... read more

Day 16 (11/11/2017) Woke up around 9AM to bacon & eggs for breakfast. Started packing the annexe away before the forecasted rain & gave the caravan a bit of a scrub. Had to spray the annexe due to bloody earwigs in every tiny little corner. Stopped just before 11AM for some quiet reflection for Remembrance Day. Got ourselves partially packed up so that there was little left to do in the morning for the final trip home. Day 17 (12/11/2017) Left Omeo at 9:25AM. Got stuck behind some idiot towing a caravan with no caravan mirrors, doing 40 in an 80 zone & 60 in a 100 zone. Despite moving across to show him we wanted to pass several times, this buffoon was completely ignorant & made no attempt to let anyone pass. When we got ... read more

Day 9 (4/11/2017) Went to the local produce market to have a look around. Whilst not a large market, there certainly were some interesting things. Deb, as you would expect, went straight to the wine tasting. She also tried a free sample of some natural heat cream on her shoulder. It seemed to have some effect & offered some relief, so purchased a couple of small jars as you do not need much. Made locally by a lady who grows all her own ingredients, we cannot wait to take a look at the website (www.saarinenorganics.com). After a light lunch of fish, we took a walk around the Shady Gully park. The amount if bird life around here is extraordinary. We have also seen kangaroos, a wombat & several lizards. Day 10 (5/11/2017) Did the washing since ... read more

Day 6 (1/11/2017) Out at 7:25AM to head into NSW. Quite a pleasant drive with a good section of highway, our first stop of the day was the Bega Cheese Factory in Bega. Tasting the wonderful cheeses on offer really did make the taste buds water for more. The Heritage Vintage Reserve Cheddar took pride of place in our purchase for its wonderful flavour & bite, followed by the Strong & Bitey Vintage; the only difference being the time of maturation. After the cheese tasting, we sat down for a cuppa with a scone, jam & cream each. Back on the road we ran into, yes you guessed it, more roadworks. Heading back towards the Sapphire Coast into Merimbula we came across its Northern part called Tura Beach. Here we fuelled up & ducked into a ... read more

Day 1 (27/10/2017) Left Cranbourne North at 8:00AM. Start KM 96,239 Arrived Stratford 10:45AM. Wanted to get out before too many trucks headed East. Relatively easy run up until the stretch between Traralgon & Sale, encountering numerous roadworks which made progress a lot slower than expected. Arrived at Stratford on the River Caravan Park to find that we were placed at the far end of the park, quite a long way from the toilets. Went up the road to the Stratford Bakery for lunch, where we had the finest pies we had tasted pretty much in our lifetime. After that it was next door to the Shaws Butcher for some wonderful meats to get us through the next 2 evenings. But before we can start holidaying, it is off the short 15KM into the Sale Ibis ... read more

Day 8 (9/5/2017) Up early to go for a paddlesteamer cruise & a look around the Port of Echuca, including a guided tour. Booked our cruise tickets for 11.30 & set about wandering the Port of Echuca. We barely scratched the surface before it was time for our cruise on the PS Pevensey. From the moment we left the wharf, the skill of the captain to turn the paddlesteamer around in narrow & shallow water, as well as the expert knowledge imparted over the loud speaker from start to finish was brilliant. We then returned to the Port of Echuca & decided to dash across to the bakery before our guided tour. Our guide was Jenny who was a delight. Her expert knowledge & witty delivery made the tour even better. After a final look around ... read more

Day 1 (2/5/2017) Left Cranbourne at 4.15PM. Stopped at Wangaratta at 8.25PM to fill up with diesel & have dinner. Arrived at Indi Bridge at midnight. Day 2 (3/5/2017) Woke up to a chilly morning of -6C, but a beautiful view right on the Upper Murray River. It was a cold night but slept really soundly. Set up the generator while having a 10AM breakfast. Went fishing & caught a nice Brown Trout first cast. Spent the rest of the day relaxing in the sun & enjoying several drinks. The generator did a fantastic job keeping everything running. Before it started to get cold, gathered lots of firewood to set up a large bonfire to keep us warm. Took a while to get the fire started, but a few toilet tissues soaked in petrol fixed all ... read more

Day 20 (23/11/16) Rainy day today. After being up most of the night with the caravan roof leaking, have decided to stay in to make sure we don’t get flooded out. Day 21 (24/11/16) Up early for the 90KM drive to Woods Point, an old gold mining town. It took ages to get there, with around 50KM of narrow, nasty gravel road shared with semi trailers. Not much to see, depending on what things you find interesting. On the way back we saw a huge Wedge Tail Eagle. Unfortunately it happened so fast there was no time to get the camera out. We drove to Lake Eildon lookout where the views were spectacular. Next we headed to Jamieson Brewery which I was dying to see, only to find them closed for renovations. Not happy!!! Went to ... read more

Day 15 (18/11/16) Dropped Deb off in Bright for most of the day to do what she does best: shopping! That left me free to go & fish the Ovens & Buckland rivers. Whilst I did not manage to catch or see a fish, I did get to see some of the most tranquil & beautiful scenery. The peace I felt standing in these rivers breathing clean air was unparalleled. After both having a lengthy day, Deb cooked a beautiful leg of lamb roast with veggies. A fantastic end to a cracking day. And who said you have to spend lots of money to have a good time? Sometimes the simple things in life can be the most pleasant. Day 16 (19/11/16) Hot day today (at least compared to what we have had). And when you ... read more
