I found your Blog searching for Dawson City info I've recently discovered Dawson City, quite by accident and I've become somewhat enamored with the idea of living there. Maybe for a short time, maybe forever, who knows. Loved your Blog...are you still there? Do you have any advice for anyone thinking about moving to Dawson City? Thanks! Roger
living in dawson city hi roger
I have now been living in Dawson city for 3 years (year round) some advice I can give you is to make plans in the winter, make sure to become part of the community, and try to escape and see some sunlight during the winters cause winters can be long and dark and lonely. honestly tho this is an amazing place and the sense of community is outstanding coming from just outside Toronto I have learned to appreciate the things that scared me the most in the beginning I appreciate the summers more after a long hard winter and I long for winter as soon as the summer season hit because I miss that connection you find with the people who stick it out with you all winter long. if you come back we should meet for coffee but I will be extremely busy until the fall like all of the other Dawson people. I wish you all the luck and keep in contact so that I can give you more in depth details of the town that I have fallen in love with.
Traveling will do that! So many times, I thought I'd stay a week, but it stretched into months or a year. These little towns are the best--great to meet characters, hike secret trails and know a place through its seasons. Make sure you don't follow Lottie Logan--stay warm!
Wise decision! I think it's fantastic that you two took off on an adventure, trusting the universe to provide what you needed. I've done a fair bit of hitching since I was 20, and it's such a great way to go--you always meet amazing people. Some travelers even make whole lives of this, stopping in places like wonderful Wawa, earning some money to travel on. Incidentally, as a straight-haired person, I love wild, wavy, curly, frizzy hair. You might get used to it! Happy hitching!
I'm starting this at the age of 29 having lived two lives the one people expect of me and the one that speaks to me. Wanderlust has become more then just a word ...its become a part of who I am... this is more then my travel journal this is a little peek into something more.
I hope you enjoy.... full info
