very, very bad country After five years spend @ Santo Domingo I may say that actually nothing is good in Dominican Republic. Sorrry except beaches but only when Dominicans are not there. I have tons of exaplems of robbing, cheating, corruption, bad behaviour, criminals, drugs, dirt and much more. My wife is Dominiana but we actually she is just waitibg to have her EU residency and get out from this corrupted country

Thank You! Dear Nancy, Thank you for sharing your trip with me. What an adventure and what great work you are doing. Have a happy thanksgiving. Gretchen
Big hairy things with more legs than me Nancy, if I had seen that tarantula I would have had to put a bag over my mouth cause would be hyperventilating! I love snakes but spiders do something to my psyche! I love your site and am trying to make my own but cannot see yet how to upload files, a work in progress, take care, Linda
Nancy, the Kearsarge ran with us on the Ticonderoga in the South China Sea in the Early 60's. I lived on that carrier for 3 years.
Footloose is so appropriate for you my friend. Love Ed
Greetings from Yakima Nancy,
I am loving your adventure vicariously. I just finished Mountains beyond Mountains; all about Haiti and the fantastic lack of medical care. You know you are needed: lots. I am still teaching in public school and am committed to twice a month sharing some far off locale and someone who has been there. Your blog/photo will be one of the shows! Thanks for including me and making me think. You always have. Good to read about soccer with both Daniel and Tafara. Glad both are well.
Cheers,
Christina Carlson
Dr. Foote, I am so gland to hear from you again. Also that you are doing what you like the best" helping people"
We miss you in Yakima and we dont forget about you.
Love you.

Different perspective on MRE's Nancy,
I chuckled over your comment about the MRE seeming like more than 1500 calories. That's not the perspective I've heard from Jacob about MRE's during his army summer training. The logistics details do sound mind-boggling. Thanks for sharing!
Great to hear from you! Hi, Mags,
Thanks for the comment to the blog.
Where is Megan working and living? How about Ashleigh? Is she going to graduate school?
Daniel is in Florida in his senior year at Florida Southern College. He got recruited here to play soccer, but got injured just before practices started last fall, so he was out for the season. He'll still be eligible to play next year as a graduate student. He's majoring in International Business and seems to be pretty much enjoying life.
Tafara started graduate school last year in the same program I completed (Master in Public Administration). However, she wasn't all that happy with the program. She is still playing serious soccer, and in 2 weeks will be participating in a jamboree-type event here in Florida to be recruited to a new professional women soccer league team. The league is starting next year, and will have 7 teams, with 2 more to be added in 2010. She's pretty excited about it, and I think she has a pretty good chance of getting recruited. She had a really good season this year, so I have my fingers crossed for her. This has been her dream since she was 8, and I love to see her moving toward achieving it.
How's Paul's job? What are you doing with yourself? How's your heart?
Hope all is well. Keep in touch.
Fondly,
Nancy
Good for you! Nancy,
Great to hear Project HOPE is going to benefit from your many, diverse abilities and knowledge. It was so exciting to see you when you were in Yakima--we'd just been wondering where you were. I look forward to staying in touch and hearing more of your new service opportunities.

Messages just received Hi Nancy,
It is August 10th and I just got your first three blog entries, Introduction, First Leg of Journey and More random thoughts. Since you wrote these June 13th, perhaps they were out there somewhere with your luggage. I hope your luggage has been found as well. I was beginning to wonder if you made it all right. I tried calling Tafara, but did not get an answer or response from the message left.
November 2008 Hi! I’m Nancy, from Seattle, Washington, the state on the west side of the United States (not Washington, DC, the US capital on the east coast). I have updated my travel blog and am preparing for my next adventure.
I am a Family Physician who quit practice after 21 years at a migrant and community health center in eastern Washington State to go back to school. I now have a Master’s in Public Administration with a Certificate in International Development from the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington in Seattle. I volunteered for over ... full info
