Hi, I have just been catching up and reading your blog. It seems ages since I had a relaxing weekend like this so I am making the most of it (last night I slept for 14 hours!)
Glad to see you're having fun. I have finally seen some sights here; hollywood and disney, so its all fun.
Carry on drinking for me, it makes me sad that I can't!
hi hannah, just got back from 6 days in polzeath, surfing, go-karting (the lads anyway!) and playing lots of cricket on campsite. saw a baby pipefish in a rockpool - your travels sound increasing interesting and challenging - glad you made best of every moment especially diving a bit. motorbikes will never seem the same again will they ?! i remember riding pillion around johannesburg once - not to be forgotten! anyway rachel and dave should be contacting you shortly - rachels back from newquay today. til next blogg have some more good times love us all xxxx
Temples Pleased you are back on form and getting beyond the tourist spots. The temples sound wonderful. Good luck with the rest of your time in Cambodia.
hi hannah, we,ve been following your experiences with a mixture of elation and horror - what bad luck with the theft. Still everything has an upside and you must have by now enjoyed the relief of knowing that everything will work out ok "with a little bit of help from your friends" (and family!) Its amazing reading your descriptions of the places you are visiting - the diving sounds wonderful. So keep on soaking it all up (not just the booze!) we're beginning to feel like we're on holiday too at last. Lots of love Auntie Cathy et al xxxxxx
- continued I'm not sure what happened then! Perhaps the first part of my comment has been sent! Anyway, as I was saying your last "Blog" begins ... "And I'm in love with the place already" - so we can assume that the message starts off telling of the fact that you have reached Bankok.
We were so sorry to hear of your misfortune regarding the burglary. However, you seem to be overcoming the set-back - and getting round the inconvenience. It is a pity that the airline is not more helpful - but at least the other agencies are responding sensibly. Of course, this delay - if indeed it is - will not stop you doing the rest of your expedition.
You are certainly brave to subject your stomach to all the strange and unusual dishes. That said, it would be stupid not to try the local fare whilst you have the chance. Sadly, if you cultivate a capricious apppetite for some of the exotic food, you may be disappointed when to get back to England and unable to get it!
Do you have to worry about sun cream? The temperatures you have experienced sound horrendous - and the sun factor must be alarming!
Unfortunately you do seem to have met your full quota of strange characters who seem intent on fleecing you at best! It is important that you have some awareness - and, if piossible, some character(s) that can be trusted. By the same token you have obviously met some very helpful and friendly companions along the way.
Where next after Bankok? Thailand seems to have much to commend it. No doubt there are contrasting areas. Many seem to choose it for its more modern parts - but, then, it is not the "native" part.
No doubt you will be more aware of the need to keep tabs on your possessions. I am so glad that your camera was not stolen - the record shots would have been irreplaceable.
There seems to be a great deal of "chilling out", drinking and partying going on!!! But, you are also seeing and experiencing cultures, treasures and lives too - and striking the right balance which is important. No doubt you will return a different person, in some respects. There is no substitute for experience and life - books etc. do not fully compensate for what is real and can only be a good substitute at best.
Well now Hannah, this Saturday we are attending the Thanksgiving Service for "Auntie" Eileen at Milton. We expect about 50 to come. Steve is staying with us for a few nights. Many of the family will be present. Family occasions are always important - even the sad ones. (Not that this Service should be sad - quite the reverse in fact). All here in the West country seem well at present. There is much fruit to pick in the garden, Bethany is visiting Southampton, Laura has commenced her summer job - and is still trying to arrange her New York trip.
We shall be thinking of you this Saturday at the Service. All here send their love, as indeed do I. Love and hugs. Grandpa.
just wanted to say we're following your adventures with awe and envy - cant believe how brave you are at trying new experiences (ohhhh to be young again!). It sounds as if youre at last meeting some interesting people and things are looking up. Hope this continues for the next part of your trip. Indias pretty spiritual dont you think? Lots of love from us all xxxx
Fab Trip Hi,
Your trip makes fantastic reading - and I am very envious. What great experiences. Imagine reading India's Contact as we read Weare's Contact! What a contrast. I'm off to Delhi Agra and Rajasthan in Feb, when I hope the heat should be more bearable.
Have loads of fun. Ailene

It was along the lines of, glad your having a fantastic time, I'm very jelaous, Although I want to be made more jealous with further fantastical time of you... It's still a bit strange realising that you're in india, I still half expect you to pick up the phone when i ring home! Hope you continue to have a fanastic time; bathing in sarced pools etc!

Wow, the temple sounds amazing. Glad you're having a fantastic time now! Bathing in a sacred pool and all!
I still find it strange that you're there, still half expecting you to pick up the phone when I ring home. Hope you carry on having a fantastic time, I'm jealous! I want to be made more jealous with more fanatastic stories though....
-------- hey hannah, i travelled extensively through kashmir 4 years back at the height of terrorism, because of the militancy your movement might always be restricted and due to travel advisories you wont find many westerners there, from jammu you should move to himachal pradesh- manali or dharamshala, there you wont face problems about travelling alone and are likely to meet someone to travel with .... take care and best of luck
chris
