Hi Mike,
I just came across your travel blog while googling 'Ethiopian avocado juice'....having just come back from there and trying to find a name for the avocado cocktails (non-alcohol) they had there - Sprees! I loved what you wrote on your blog...this was my first trip to the continent and I already experienced much of the lovely 'africanism' you mentioned. Great stuff...next time somebody mentiones they are going to visit Ethiopia or the African continent I am recommending your blog.
swimming Not sure I would want to swim in the delta... too many crocs and hippos.
there probably are a few places where it is safe, but not generally.
good luck.
Thanks Thanks for sharing this. I was on a commercial trip (motor, no rowing, strictly a passenger) a month before you. The rapids were fun (except Hermit where I got hurt) but the side hikes were unexpected and amazing. Did you hike above Deer Creek Falls? That was my favorite hike and quite an accomplishment on a swollen ankle. I'd love to go back sometime and do it the way you did. You're right, pictures don't nearly do it justice.
Pink Hotel Tirunvannamalai Hi Mike- The Pink Hotel was recommended by a friend, but we both can't find the contact info on-line. Would you happen to have a phone number or email contact for the Pink Hotel? Thank you.

My Visit to the Delta Hi, I am quite impressed with your story and pictures. For many years I did some work in Africa with the RFID microchip identifying threatended animals. I am taking my three grandsons to the Delta next January 2010 with the assistance of a colleague of mine who lives in Joberg. Thanks and regards Ron Smith Australia
