Wonderful pictures as usual
I think I sent you a comment the first time I read your blog months ago. I continue to be amazed by your photography and even more by your writing. You have such a positive attitude about the places you visit and you convey your feelings with lovely words. I hope you get a chance to visit Brazil on this trip YOu say something about high charges for visas holding you back. We love Salvador in Bahia state. Forget the rest of Brazil go to Bahia! It is beautiful and historic and really BRAZIL. Not a fancy tourist trap but a real African/Portuguese city with beaches to die for and a wealth of churches with many objects worth seeing a few good museums and lots of good food. Thanks for the joy of your blog.

The Tree of Life
Your sister and I tried to find out the name of the tree and were unable to find it on the internet. Do us a favor and ask a local. We want to know. Carry on, Son. Love, Mom

hi
Hi, I enjoyed reading about the falls -I was there in 2001 and it brought back a lot of memories:-) Beautiful photos! My camera got wet and the film was spoiled when I went on the boat (the waterpoof bag didn't work or something), so had to get copies from a friend...but of cause it wasn't the same!

Well, he's off again
Watch out Argentina! He's on the way. You know, Son, at least an angry redneck would have stayed close to home and done normal trips to the beach. Gee, thanks alot, Mr. Buffet! And to think I took him to your first concert! What was I thinking! Enjoy, Son. Be safe. Love, Mom

Take Me With You!
I am so glad you are resuming your travels!!! I'm so jealous. I have had to reenter the rat race which was unplanned but necessary :( I wish you all the luck and of course, I'll be travelling with you in spirit!

Botfly treatment
I was going to mention the 4th of July party entertainment (removing the botfly from my leg) in the next blog, but there it is.

Botfly treatment
Son, you forgot to tell them that Vicks Vapor Rub is perfect for smothering botflies and also aids in their removal. Its a miracle product. Its amazing that people who live staid, quiet lives don't want to hear about such things as botflies - especially over dinner. Go figure! Carry on bravely, Son. Oh, I saw a great bumper sticker tonight. It said, "Be a hero! Fight global warming." Good idea, huh?

You Had Me Going Son!
I was quite relieved that you weren't really in a black hole with unknown creatures approaching. I had already started packing my bags to go find the guide that trapped you in there! As far as your adventures with creapy crawly things, I'm not surprised. After all, I did used to find frogs in the pockets of your jeans! Carry on bravely, Son of Mine. Love, Mom

Fantastic
You have the only blog (other than my own) which I love to look at and read each time you post. I think your joy in your travels is what pulls me your way and then the wonderful pictures and excellent writing draw me into the total scene of the places you visit. Some day I hope you will sit down and write a travel book so more people can enjoy the trips you are making. It sounds as if you are winding down from this extended trip and heading home. Where will you go next? What fun will I get to have reading in the coming months, years? Thank you for loving the places you visit and helping me to feel as if I had been right there with you. njpl

I am there too! Keith this rocks!
Wow! This bulletin is one of your best. The writing and photos transport me there. I can feel the heat from the lava, and the bite of the ants. I can smell the new rain on the jungle canopy and see the green canopy from atop the Temples. So cool. I hope your trip home is fun and you enjoy it. Good Luck from ole Mare Island... thanks for the quick journey..

wonderful stories and pictures
I spent 2 weeks in Copan Ruinas last March ( I stayed with a family and went to school to study Spanish) and enjoyed the low key bustle of the town. One of my host sisters runs the snack bar at the ruins and she helped me get a ticket. Unfortunately, the sculpture musuem was closed for renovations. The day I visited there were very few tourists and at times I was the only one there. I revel in that just as you seem to do. I also visited Gracias just because I liked the name. I was fortunate to have one of my host sisters and her husband drive me ( I paid them well) and it was worth every penny. I was glad I went to see a town without tourists. I ,too, went on to Antigua and ws there for Semana Santa. Thanks for your great pictures.

I think Nancy is correct
Actually, I think we're all correct but - in this instance, I think it is the language barrier that got you. From the picture, it most certainly looks like cinnamon. So canela is my final choice. Mom
