Unexpected turn of events today. Woke up early to depart for a 10.02 flight from Santiago to Calama to begin our much anticipated cycling tour of Atacama with Ecotours. Checked my phone to find an email from LATAM saying flight is cancelled. Try to look at options online but am 11th in the queue for the chat service. Head downstairs to reception to get some help from Diana who’s on the night shift. Cheeky drink at The Commission in Heathrow T4 (Maia disowned us and opted for a Pret). Heading to Santiago de Chile via Paris CDG. First impressions - I LOVE travelling Economy...it’s the best!... read more

Three weeks today we'll hopefully have landed in Chile. Mainly Atacama and Patagonia planned...cannot wait, but a bit nervous too about cycling at altitude in the Atacama, tough long hikes in Patagonia, sleeping in cabins and how much gear we have to pack. Off shopping this afternoon in search of fleecy stuff and waterproof stuff.... read more
