Awesome! That all sounds so wonderful! I am glad you are doing so good. There is always a time of adjustment and then you will settle down. The best thing you can do about your apartment is to jump in and make it yours. Go out and buy a colorful bed spread and other new bedding to make the room more your own. Hang up pictures if you are allowed, get a beautiful plant or two. As for the kitchen, only keep easy things like snacks and fresh fruit/veggies in it, and drinks, of course. Set yourself up a comfort area where you have a cute lamp and sitting are to read, watch movies from, or write in a diary while relaxing. You will make your space a home and you will have the comfort of knowing it is yours. Miss you! Victoria is moving to Minnesota, so I am losing daughter #1 as well as you! *SOB* :>D Keep smiling beautiful!
Who knew you could be so popular just by going to another country.... haha j/k Erika. Seriously though, how crazy is that to be in a place where staring is ok and actually expected? I'd be weirded out all the time and want to be like "What ARE you looking at?!?"
"There was another thing I found interesting as we made our way to the hospital (Brooke said we should know where it is, just in case one of us gets hit by a car...comforting). " WHAT! Watch out for crazy drivers...
Pics of your room, pretty please? Good thing stuff is cheap there; you can spruce it up w/o spending much dough :-D
Yay! I'm so excited to read what you've been experiencing. Do you plan to play Mahjong with the locals? I loved playing on the computer, but can't imagine what it would be like to play in the street like that. So cool! Mom and I laughed when we were packing up your stuff and one box of clothes and shoes was labeled "definitely China." Good thing it didn't fit, huh? Have you read much of the book Two Lives in China? Some of what you've been experiencing reminds me of it. Especially the comments about the people staring. I wonder what the deal is with that... Anyway, mom and I have been contacted by a relative of ours. An uncle-J.R.'s half-brother. So weird! I'll let you know how that goes =) I'll keep commenting and e-mailing and you keep updating! Love you!
keep the pics coming! um i love yours posts so much i wish you could blog like every few hours! maybe the chinese people are so skinny cuz their parks have workout stations? and i think it's very helpful you have pics of the people you talk about! puts a face with the name. also, take pics of your living situation. i want to be able to see it better. GROSS about the blood chunks, glad that you're liking the food and the clothes! so jealous...
i miss you, friend! i listen to our summer mix every day and i always expect to find you home after i get off work. lots of love <333
:-) I'm glad to hear you made it there safely. Already miss you. Even though I didn't see you that often here, I still feel your absence. Enjoy the openness of the natives, but watch out for old creepy dudes who want to turn you into dinner...just saying. Anyway, keep the blogs coming when you have the chance and I hope you're having a fabulous time :-)
what's it like in the future? the future goes by really fast...lol and i did bring the toothpaste thing! i'm still using it! it reminds me of you guys everytime. :)
Good to hear from you Erika:
Sounds you are adjusting the cultral well. I hope you will have a great experience in China.
Also thanks for the card.

Demasiada Felicidad OVER THERE. I've been reading your first entrance 100 times try'n to asimilate that you are in. I think this is the best experience that you can have in your life Erika, and of course never forgetting you could be anywhere if you are really decided to make it bigger; like going not just to China, you can be in London teaching Chinese, you can be everywhere if you want, even Egypt.
Oh god, you are really far away from us. We're gonna start to talk about day and night differences, and with a "few" hours of lateness. Hehehe. Well, right now I'm going to tell everyone who's in front mine that you're there, teaching a language that is not even your first knowledge. Erika I can't stop thinking how far you are, speaking of goals.
I'm going to let them know (our mexican family) where you are and what are you doing OVER THERE.
I believe in you, and I think you will be very successful at the educational environment.
Te envio las mejores de las vibras, y espero que tengas una buena temporada de trabajo y los mejores deseos.
Cuídate mucho y no desaproveches está grandiosa oportunidad.
I love you prima.
Cheers.
Roberto Vega Cota.
