You are right to be annoyed. I'm from India. This habit of staring is not uncommon. And not just foreigners, people just stare anyone for no reason whatsoever. You are right that most people don't care if they make someone uncomfortable by their lack of manners. Perhaps its due to the competition people have to deal with here. Before reading this though, I thought that this thing is not uncommon in the West.
Kochin is the bomb. Fort Kochin was one of my favourite places I visted in India. Loved all the european influences, portugease, dutch, chinese (the fishing nets - not european and actually not chinese either). All that. I rode into a van's front right wheelarch on a moped while I was there. Well cool.
Glad you're having a good time. Will write to you at length with actual news soon. I'm still unemployed, so there won't be all that much news.

on doodhsagar, karnataka,India. hi friend i like Ur wall-posts on your blog....its amazing story u had...i and my friends also met the doodhsagar on 25 12 2011....and happy new year have nice days....
Such a shame that Arambol is like this now, although so many people were saying when we were there how much and how quickly it was changing. The 10pm music ban was strict apart from the odd occasion where the bar had paid off the police and on New Years and Carnival (definitely worth going to). It was never a party place but you could smoke even though it is illegal throughout India. The settlement by the Siolim bridge was a sad sight, but you will see a lot worse when you leave Goa. If you go back to Arambol, try the other end of the beach towards Ivon's guest house, it's much quieter and the guys who work in Samantha Inn (Rocky and Yogi) if they're still there are both really cool. You will still get bothered by the sellers! I only avoided it as they got used to me never buying anything and knew I was staying around. There are none here, just twice as many other tourists. Miss India, and you x
U will surely Njoy GOA in some time. It is sad to see you are not having all the FUN as much you expected. But surely u will njoy GOA slowly. There are amazing places and evenly good people all around. You just need to start trusting your instinct. When bored goto Curliesor Shiva Valley on Anjuna you may like them when alone. We will also be JOINING YOU in Goa very shortly on 23rd Dec for 2 weeks.
Take care.

If you decide to go to Calangute which is near Anjuna, hunt out the tibetan kitchen to try their dumplings. I would love to know that its still there 11 years after I went.
Lot of love K x
Nice Blog Mate! Good blogging skills Emma Hanid. You describe it well. I like the way you just say everything that happened and don't appear to be judging or analysing or comparing too much. Wish I was there xxx
