Great Pics What a wonderful adventure you are having. Keep up the communication so I know you are well. I get a little nervous when I don't hear from you but I will look at it as you are having the time of your life and God is watching over you.
Awaiting the next entry I am enjoying your travels and following along with you. My partner has just returned from his time in Guatemala with many stories of the people to tell. the Guatemala Stove Project is kept very busy helping the people in rural Guatemala and trying to make a difference in their lives as well as the environment. I am looking forward to your next entry and your views on the people and the conditions of Guatemala, keep them coming.
I miss Guatemala.... Since I have returned, I miss Guatemala every single day of my life...and the kindness and warmth of the people. For what we have in material things...we lack so much in the matters of the heart, the things that really mean something! Everyday I go to work and hear my co-workers constantly complaining. They are not happy. They never will be. I have to listen to them day in and day out and then I remember the gentle people I passed on the streets in Guatemala and how everybody smiled and said "hola!, buenos dias!" and I miss Guatemala all over again....
Jaibilito Why are these beautiful "magical" places, the glory of creation on breathtaking display, so often populated by the poorest of the poor? 'Lor, thank you for revealing the children carrying cinder blocks on their backs, amist the beautiful photos. "Uno quezales!" goes into their pockets, at least. We need to keep our humanity.
WOW!! I swear reading your adventures is addictive! It's like watching 24! What do you mean I have to wait for the next episode?! I don't know where we are going from here, but I'm getting over there some how!
when i was in el jaibalito, lcdm was booked and i stayed at the volcano lodge (up the hill behind the school). loved the town and the lake views. your blog/journal and the pics make me homesick for that beautiful country. thanks for posting.
pana i agree that pana is the least attractive of the lake towns. there is (or was) a really neat mayan lady in pana named 'paulina'. she is the best sales person i EVER met and is also organizing cooperatives to help artisans get fair prices for their work.....very involved in the community. keep your eyes open for her. she is worth the time to get to know.
btw....you're a softy and are getting hosed on the prices.
love....don

Not jealous but VERY envious Dolores, you have found your calling as a story teller. The pictures and words are absolutely amazing and I couldn't be happier for you. I just wish I was there celebrating life the way you are. I look forward to your emails and the sunny pictures are wonderful, especially during these gray days on Ol' Cape Cod.
awesome bolgs!! Thanks for sharing your link to these incredible blogs! I too traveled this road to the lake and since I was in a public shuttle with no tour guide, I did not understand the mining of the numerous caves we passed or the people we saw sitting along the road with their heavy burdens. Now it all came back to me and makes sense. Thanks for sharing this knowledge and reminding me. I had completely forgotten about those caves and the men we saw coated in white dust from head to toe, picking away at them with crow bars and shovels...
Such a difficult life these precious people lead.
When I began this blog I was 58. I retired and took off for 8 months to Lake Atitlan in Guatemala which was an amazing experience. I returned home to Cape Cod in September and am now planning where I would like to head off to next. I have an intense love affair with Paris that I have had since I was a young child and I am thinking of going to live there next, hopefully for as long as Paris will have me.... as I cannot imagine ever being bored or tired of Paris. I promise to keep you all posted.... full info
