The only human there
I loved your descriptions of the drive and great choice for a camping spot. I can't imagine the serenity of being out there feeling all alone. Marvelous. Great whale shots. I never tie of them. I'm glad to here people are taking advantage of this drive.

Head of the Bight ...
Hi Dave. Aren't the Head of the Bight and the Nullarbor Plain just most amazing places? We took 5 days to cross the Nullarbor, both going and coming, and weren't bored either time. People will say that the Nullarbor is boring and that there's nothing to see. All I can say is -they aren't looking! The Head of the Bight is a must-see at any time but, particularly during whale-watching season and the boardwalk along the cliff tops, makes viewing easy.. When there and we asked, "about how many whales are there today?" were told, "not many, there's only about 35 today!" :) The scenery of the Bunda Cliffs stretching for miles along the coastline is nothing short of spectacular. Fuel-wise - coming home will be easier as you should have tailwinds. Headwinds going over - tailwinds coming home. Thanks for a great blog. Brings back a lot of (very happy) memories. Safe travels. Envy
My comment title says it all - I totally agree with your comments on the Eyre Peninsula. I know it is stunning although I didn't have the 'off-road' experiences you have, I just loved the whole area across the bottom of Oz and this brings back such great memories. Looking forward to the next instalment and I'm sure when you leave Mundrabilla, your head will feel much better than mine did - that was the spot at which a tanker driver literally took a stainless steel bucket of white wine from the trailer and gave it to the girls behind the bar and, along with some other patrons, we spent the night drinking for free. Was good at the time but we paid for it next morning.

Road trip
What a bonus having a brother who lives in/near Margaret River! I felt your pain with the lizard... poor little fella :( Great photos - looking forward to reading about the drive across the Nullarbor.

New horizons
Having never been to this part of the world, you've given me some very good ideas for when we eventually get there. The wine sounds fabulous! Thanks for sharing your adventures and photos with us :)

Sad when a trip comes to an end
We've really enjoyed your trip. Ending in wine country was a great decision. Yo've made us eager for the South American leg of our travels next year. Thanks for sharing.

South America
Having travelled to Colombia, Peru & Mexico I can attest to the wonders which South America & surrounds offer. But we've yet to go to Santiago. You've whetted my appetite!
