A gap in our connection from London to Istanbul was just the right amount of time to get on the “Tube” and ride into downtown London to check out a couple sights. The speed-sightseeing walk was welcomed after our 10-hour flight from San Francisco, and as the afternoon turned to evening we were able to lay our eyes on a couple of London’s centrepieces. We were able to see Big Ben and the Parliament Buildings (that‘s one big clock), Westminster Abby (beautiful old church with Rememberence Day Memorials everywhere), Buckingham Palace (with it‘s Beefeaters on syncronized guard), St. James’ Park (a nice park but there seemed to be an obvious lack of public toilets!!!), Trafalgar Square (beautiful fountains, four big lion statues and next to the Canadian Embassy), the London Eye (big, slow ferris-wheel) and walk
