starbucks in quito ooops. a little late in responding. now i have been living in Guadalajara for 2 years where there are several overpriced, burnt coffee flavored starbucks joints. only the pseudo-elitist can afford their $4.00 coffee. so i agree with you that there would be ideally no Sbux in Quito. my rant is more directed against Nestles and their pervasive coffee flavored instant caffiene vending machines. one would think that a coffee producing country would offer visitor a good cup. thanks for your comment. sorry i'm late.
Starbucks en Quito YA The proposal is nice, coherent, and it is already hour.
Quito, have a big purchasing power that could be paid with the help of the tourists that arrive to the city.
In this city two local could exist, one in Cumbayá (where people meet with more money), and another in The Marshal (where has the tourists).
The problem is that it is not invested in what would owe you, and the market is saturated with KFC´s, Mc Donalds and until I find out that a Subway would come.
eat really intolerable for my palate and the one of many that I already disgust us the idea.
as a personal anecdote, I should comment that for the concert of the Guns and Roses in Quito, Axl Rose, requested before her presentation a glass of coffee of the mark Starbucks... it is not known where they will have gotten the coffee, if they traveled for the, it is not known, maybe is in the history of the country, it will be known that the most expensive coffee, acquired it an Ecuadorian. ja!
Greetings
No Starbucks - PLEASE! Hello, I am reading this rather late, but I'm very happy that Starbucks has not landed here in Ecuador. I brew my own Loja blend here in my home in Cuenca and am very happy with that. A local coffee shop also makes Loja-coffee-bean-originated expresso that is quite tasty. Why - if Ecuador is a coffee-producing country - does one have to bring in a model of burnt beans? Why not just foment local efforts at coffee production and roasting? You must have missed several places in Quito that actually serve fine coffee without needing a Starbucks to take over.

Brings back nice memories of Quito. We were in Quito in May, but so much has happened since that it feels like it was much longer ago. It's great to read about one of my fave SA cities again, Voto Nacional gets my vote too! Good to hear you are enjoying Ecuador, Barry
coffee snobery is a universal language i hate starbucks...but alas, they be on every street corner, beckoning me to green on in......Ma and pa Smith would do well to set up their bean shacks anywhere in the world across from a starpukes and thrive...and so it seems Roberto is right ..there must be corporate/state level cartel/government mordida (payola) going on globally nowdays ..wish we could have a constitution rewrite party here in the US by and for the people..perhaps siting starpukes as the cause for more auto accidents than cell phones, make then the next enemy of patriotism and all things right and just like pedophiles ...chop the legs of giants like Nestles with dull axes til they.....well... I am moved by this awesome enlightening article ...enculturating me , immersing me , and feeling like am there with you Roberto ready to Skype fiends and strangers and yell..(scuse, while i sip my red eye)...I'm just not gonna take it anymore you damned baby killers!
Just a humble north American who has enjoyed the privilege of having traveled and extensively visited some Latin American as well as some SE Asia countries. What a great pleasure to learn from different cultures by going as a responsible visitor most of the time, instead of an obnoxious, americentric tourist. ... full info
