Miss you guys lots!
Hi Chris and Haley,
All I can say is WOW!!!! Little did I know when you visited us in Egypt Chis as a teenager that you would develop such a passion for traveling. South Africa looks fantastic. I can't wait to hear more
about it and see more pictures. Have a fabulous time and please come see me when you return. Love, Bev
It was fun! It was such fun with all of us getting together in a resort setting. It was just a few days of relaxing, and reconnecting with each other particularly now that you are all on your own as adults. Having the 3 generations vacation together was great for all. Thank you all for taking a few days off work and coming with us. Who is ready to do it again in a few years?
amusing and informative blog :) Chris, I found your blog purely by chance on Google.. very useful, and made me laugh :) Im going to Jaisalmer next week so im going to try squeezing in a camel trek, but only have 1 day, not sure its long enough to do a 'proper' one, but found your blog tips very useful. Keep posting, and happy travelling!
missing the Yangshuo local beer... It was great meeting up with you in Yangshuo. Enjoy the rest of your trip and look us up next time your in SF (or Phoenix until next may).

That's the Best ya gotta love those unexpected moments that start defining your whole trip and your girl friend gets tired of hearing you tell the story over and over to friends ... I had some what of a frightening expereince on my arrival into Beijing two years ago when a taxi driver, lost at 11:30 pm dumps me off on a street corner. I ened up taking a rickshaw through back allies and I just knew I was going to be killed but it all worked out.
Purse shopping to the next level...man! How did you all get invited to that? Hopefully you found something cute for me :) Your trip has flown by and I can't wait to see all of your pictures once you get home. How many of these will sell I wonder!
Birds of a Feather Hi Chris and Haley -- glad things are going so well. Traveling the back roads of China takes a lot of guts. It is wonderful that everyone seems so friendly and helpful. The birds used for fishing that you have mentioned a couple of times are cormorants. They are common in the U.S. and Virginia, and are unique in that they will perch and hold their wings open to dry. In Asia the fisherman put a ring around their necks so they can catch a fish but can't swallow it. Have a safe trip home, and see you next week.
My two favorite dumplings Well if ever there were two dumplings it's you and Haley. I hope you are planning to write about a book about all your travels and how to survive on a shoestring budget when traveling through China and every other place that you've been. You should serioulsy think about opening up a travel agency at home or hire yourself out as a tour guide for the adventour types of travelers. Please bring Haley over when you get back!!! Have fun and stay safe!! Cheers, Bev
Travelling is a passion of mine and I think it is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I got interested in other cultures at a young age when I visited a friend in Egypt. I did a few months trekking around Europe after college. Then a few years later I went for a year long solo trip around the world. That was sooooo amazing (the bulk of these blogs are from that trip). Since then I met an amazing woman (Haley) and she and I try to visit at least one new country a year (more like 2). Check out my stuff, I hope you enjoy it.
...get out there and experience the world!... full info
